I installed slitaz-cooking-base.
Cyrillic characters instead of seeing the empty squares. How to make visible the Cyrillic characters?

How to switch keyboard to slitaz-cooking-base?

Thank kultex and mojo.
I continue to study the issue. Accidentally discovered that the layout switches the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + Shift". At the same time instead of Cyrillic characters appear the same empty boxes or question marks. With that try to understand. But where can you change the keyboard shortcut? I'm used to "Alt + Shift".

I found a version of the manual in Russian: http://www.inp.nsk.su/~baldin/Cyrillic-HOWTO-russian/.
Once the package kbd.
If you execute the command:
[c]setfont Cyr_a8x16[/c]
that the Cyrillic characters are displayed correctly. You can use other fonts.
But when typing in the console, there are still question marks (although the system understands the text).
How do I fix this?

That the interest on the command line [c]mc[/c] Cyrillic entered correctly. But as soon as you come out to the console - there are a question for.

just for verifying: - did you boot the original iso with the option lang=ru kmap=ru

boot: ru<enter>
boot: <enter>

I installed slitaz-cooking-base on the hard drive in VirtualBox. Slitaz loaded with the parameter [c]lang=ru[/c], layout [c]kmap=ru[/c] is placed automatically (tried to indicate by hand - the same result).
Put another editor [c]nano[/c], it is correct Cyrillic (as in [c]mc[/c]). It is of course on the console.
In the console slitaz-cooking - the same thing.
Interestingly, the files ru.map in slitaz and slitaz-cooking - different. Who made these packages? The original package of the kbd a few Russian keyboard layouts. Why this choice?
Tried the rest - the letters do not see. I do not know why.

the problem is, that in slitaz isos there is only installed kbd-base and ther are no fonts in kbd
so you have to install the kbd package - as root "tazpkg get-install kbd"
and now you can do what is described in the link with setfont
available fonts from the link are:
/usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/koi8-14
/usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/Cyr_a8x16

The kbd package installed.
By the way, slitaz-cooking when using xterm same problem.

Thanks for your help, kultex!
I feel need a little break from this problem. Perhaps, then, the solution itself will come.
Council to use other terminals have already seen. I'm going to look at.
