Hello me again,
I am now trying to install skype. I found in the package manager a ... package (i.e. get-skype). So I tryed to install it ... It didn't worked. That's why I am here, I guess...
At the begining (shortly after typing get-skype as root), the computer told me that it cannot find libQTDBus and libQTWebkit, so I renamed in the file
usr/bin/get-skype
libQTDbus to libQtDBus
and
libQTWebkit to libQtWebkit
and the installation went up to the end. So it was a typo in the bash file... (Am I the only one using it?)
Unfortunately when I try to run skype from the graphic nothing happened. In sakura it just tell me: Aborted.
Any idea?
Alternatively, if nobody get an imediate answer I would be interested to know how to delete what this get-skype did. Then I would try to install skype from my own. Is it possible?

The current version of Skype 4.3 won't work with slitaz because it requires pulse audio.
There is no pulse audio in the slitaz repo.
[c]tazpkg remove skype[/c] should remove what was installed by the get-skype script.

I am under the impression that "tazpkg remove skype" remove skype only and leave the different libraries or dependencies loaded on my system. Is this correct?
Do you think I could find old version of skype for Linux that works for Slitaz?

run it from terminal - there was missing one library - but you will find it on http://pkgs.slitaz.org when searching for files not for package
here are alle portable apps - the nice thing - they run from home, so the do not count, if you run SliTaz frugal

While the Skype audio function will not work in SliTaz, the text chat function should work flawlessly (and does on my end too, 5.0 RC2), however I am not currently in a position to test the video functionality.

skype is a must have, and the older version was not so good, unfortunately
Does anyone know where the previous version (using alsa, but recent) can be downloaded from ?

How can I exec this file from terminal?
It works when I double click via graphical pcmanf but tell me p2p connect error, so I wish to see wath happened more precisely from terminal as you suggested. Any idea?

hmmm it seems neither that version not 4.2 can connect to the server anymore.
I guess MS had changed its protocol and made sure no older version would work anymore
Or has anyone been able to make it work ?

I did already chmod u +rwx "Skype 2.1.0.81"
But this doesn't seems work except when I double click from terminal?

Unfortunatelly, Microsoft recently did change its protocol. They want all users use only the newest version of Skype. Even Windows users are experiencing the same problem.

@sidini, this is what I have understood also
@kultex it probably means you have not disconnected/reconnected since the update which occured I believed in the course of last week; once you do, you will not be able to reconnect, I guess
It also means this is not very good news unless "someone" can make pulseaudio work in the future....

Hi all,
You are correct, I tried Skype on my other computer equiped with xubuntu and it did not work either, it tell me that he cannot connect...I could have spent a lot of time trying to get it works !!!

i have more than 100pc connected skype and was using it up to now.
and can't connect anymore.
where can i get pulseaudio and install it?

I think, the best alternative is Linphone - it is available on all plattforms and and pricing for regular phonecalls is cheaper - e.g. http://www.tele33.de/ - the problem with linphone is, that it uses Port 5060 or 6000 - in free hotspots these ports are sometimes closed - so thats a very good alternative for home.
Then there is viber http://www.viber.com/ - used a lot on smartphones and for slitaz only possible through wine, because they have no linux 32bit version.
Viber uses different Ports as linphone TCP: 5242 and 4244 - UDP: 5243 and 9785 - and viber for me is a security problem, because viber collects adresses
Maybe it is possible to get an older version of windows skype with the mac trick and wine http://www.oldapps.com/de/skype.php

i am not looking another alternative. i already gave up trying to make pulseaudio package for slitaz.
honestly i am willing to pay who can build pulseaudio for slitaz and make skype works.
if anyone interested i am openminded about it.
( i know this is not paid community, but this is emergency issue)
