Checked off "remember password" or "save password" now can't access tazpkg

This is my first hour using Slitaz.  A popup appeared every time I was opening tazpkgbox from the start menu shell... at one point I checked off the option to remember the password, or save password... now when ever I try to open programs like tazpkgbox, gparted, and other software from the start menu, it will simply not load.  I can run them from a terminal, but I would like to have full functionality.   I searched all over the internet and surprisingly could not find any information regarding this problem.  Is this a normal result of checking that box? What is the use of "save password."?

Also, all of the stilaz documents and tutorials do not seem to be working, for example, http://doc.slitaz.org/en:handbook:commands gives me a page not found error.  Whats up with the website? seems a lot of the links are broken.

Thank you for your time.

Are you sure that's all you did? You didn't remove any packages? Like say slitaz-tools-boxes? What happens if you run subox leafpad from terminal?

As for the urls, look at the sticky posts (Those in green). One of them lists alternative urls you can use.

Re: Checked off "remember password" or "save password" now can't access tazpkg

I have also noticed a lot of broken links on the web site (browsing with Chrome).  Here are some of the problems:

On the main slitaz.org site --

  Several "Missing feed: /var/cache/slitaz/website/XX.xml"

  Where XX = {scn,wok,blog}

These appears to be dynamic content that isn't updating properly.  Another broken link that makes the package search appear to be malfunctioning is:

http://www.slitaz.org/en/packages/

http://pkgs.slitaz.org/search.cgi gives a 404 not found when referenced from the slitaz.org/packages/ site.  However searching directly from pkgs.slitaz.org works correctly.  A packages link at the top of the home site would help, or a link directly from the broken slitaz.org/en/packages/ to pkgs.slitaz.org.

Also forum.slitaz.org works fine, but clicking the forums link from the community page gives a "forums search" here that appears to be broken:  http://scn.slitaz.org/forums/

The alternate urls appear to be good, but the average user checking out the distribution isn't going to dig that deep.  These bad links could give new users the impression that the project is broken/inactive.  The latest cooking is still an awesome distro regardless of problems with rolling out the next cooking and it would suck if people were turned off the distro from just a few bad links.  I think it would be extremely helpful to clean up bad links (and multiple references some of which work and some of which don't).  Would it be more efficient to have more of the site wiki based so that changes like this could be made by us helper minions?

Re: Checked off "remember password" or "save password" now can't access tazpkg

From what I can tell the links are up and running once again from within the website... links from google do not work however.  Thanks for the speedy replies, the support here is magnificent and I appreciate that very much.  I have removed a coupled of packages, like firefox for example... I do not recall removing anything related to the system. All that I did was check off 'remember password' when accessing software from the task manager that required root privileges.  I only just got xstart up and running with my video card  perhaps an hour before this happened.  I never really had time to mess around with the system.  Subox Leaf loads fine from the terminal. Everything loads fine from the terminal... i just cannot access software from the start manager that requires a password.  Perhaps I input the wrong password into 'remember password'? I don't know... is there a way to reset that setting? I suspect it is the culprit.

Thank you for your time.

another question:  I've read somewhere that tazpkg is no longer supported... is there a new package manager I can download? Also, should I consider upgrading to the cooking cd? Is it stable enough to be trustworthy?

Ok back to the point here...

tazpkgbox (the graphical front-end for tazpkg) isn't support anymore in Cooking since it's been replaced with Tazpanel. The terminal command tazpkg however still is.

Is there a way of upgrading to the cooking version of slitaz package without having to format and reinstall the entire operating system?  Also, there must be a file somewhere that contains the settings for automatic password saving and retrieval.
