I tried to start the desktop but there was no panel at the bottom. So I tried an xterm:
michael@slitaz:~$ lxpanel &
(process:2086): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.
michael@slitaz:~$ ** (lxpanel:2086): DEBUG: cache file_name = /home/michael/.cache/menus/6449b28b2230f1e67516b473d8740e08

I opened this debugging file and found:

But I have no idea what this means - in terms of: what I must do to correct this problem.
Anybody around for that?

Does lxpanel start if you login from slim to a different user account?
If it starts problem is corrupted config files for lxpanel in ~/
You can either delete or rename the corrupted configs.
Logout/in
or
lxpanelctl restart
Should generate new default lxpanel configs for that account
Another check:
#tazpkg check
Any errors about files missing/changed from lxpanel?
If yes:
#tazpkg -gi lxpanel --forced

Thanks, quick work,
wrong or corrupted configuration. I just copied the status that I found in /root/.config/lxpanels to the users directory, set the ownerships into a correct status and then it worked!
OT: any new status for installing LaTeX in Slitaz 3.0? I tried for long using get-texlive but failed. Let us say I would download directly per wget the necessary file *.tar.gz - how should I install it then to Slitaz?
