installing LaTeX - slitaz 3.0

Hi,

my problem with the get-texlive script was all the time: it did not work as the mirrors that were automatically selected with this script were busy, login was not permitted or the requested file install-tl-unx.tar.gz was not there.

So by simple looking for that file in the net I came to

http://mirrors.ctan.org/systems/texlive/tlnet/install-tl-unx.tar.gz

and downloaded this 2,6 MB file. I created a directory install-tl-unx on my user desktop and moved a root console into /install-tl-unx/install-tl-20120207.

Then just typed ,,./install-tl" and waited some seconds. The download began.

It installs to /usr/local/texlive/

- and it is a very big thing. At 540 MB space used I had to interrupt it for not having enough space. The result shown in the console was:

,,Installation failed.

Rerunning the installer will try to restart the installation.

Or you can restart by running the installer with:

  install-tl --profile installation.profile [EXTRA-ARGS]

Writing install-tl.log in current working directory."

Anyway, this way it works. To make it useful one would need a LaTeX-editor and this is available for cooking

- but not for slitaz 3.0.

Just a test, but apparently it would work. I like it for its concept for school work (but this is really pure nerd stuff in the sense of: for minorities only). It is claimed to be the best software ever made and therefore deserves a look

Whether it fits into the basic approach of slitaz I would question.
