removing openbox

I am trying to get a laptop to use XFCE instead of Openbox. I have XFCE working for most part. Now the question is, how do I get rid of openbox? Is that even possible? How do I track all the packages that are related to openbox and are not required any more (since presumably XFCE is the active window manager now)? Would like to get a lean install if possible. At the same time, don't want to have to reinstall the box all over again.

Does this even make sense? thanks.

I just removed openbox, lxpanel, pcmanfm and all the lx* packages I could find. Then I went into .local and .config and removed the directories related to them. That pretty much removed it for me last time.

thanks, I'll do that. Would that be almost equivalent to the slitaz-xfce.iso (or whatever that's called)?

As I understand it, the xfce iso is made from the base iso up, so it never had openbox and lx* tools installed. I might be wrong though.

Tried  to install xfce iso on two different machines (Dell GX240 and a Toshiba Portege) but on both ocassions I get kernel errors which stop the boot process.

Has anyone successfully booted from the xfce iso?
