Hi All
I recently installed Slitaz 4 on an Acer Aspire 5536; It works, but I am having difficulty with connecting to https sites such as facebook.
The error says something about peer unable to perform TLS handshake. All of my other devices can connect to any site.
Any thoughts on how to diagnose this one?

In answer to your question, I used both Midori and Tazweb. I installed Firefox, but nothing happens when I open it.

I get tls handshake errors with tazweb/midori on some sites.
Browsers on 4.0 repo are outdated.
firefox-official in cooking repo runs on 4.0 and cooking/5.0 gtkonly or core flavor.

Firefox needs so much memory for my old lifebook, wich has only 512 mb avaliable.

I do not want to step on your nerves, but is there any chance to get a
newer / backported version of midori,(or a workaround), to get rid of this https/TLS problem?

Is this a browser problem, or a certificate problem? I thought maybe tazweb and midori use system-wide certificates and cannot find them, whereas firefox maybe embeds its own certificates?
I'm asking this because I also have certificate problems with alpine (a mail reader); I must ignore security warnings to connect to SSL mail servers.

Maybe cacerts package will solve the problem?
Note that SliTaz 4.0 not have this package, but you can download it from Rolling repository and install. Also note that it depends on openssl only (that you can find in the SliTaz 4.0 repo, alas slightly outdated — 1.0.1g vs 1.0.1h in the Rolling).

unfortunately it make no difference..(slitaz 4 + midori)
The old FF 10 from the Sz4 repo has no probs with the https sites.
But because I do not like FF, I made a new iso with FF , dd it to an old (512mb)
usb-flash, so I can boot this if I need to..
Q:
Does the newer midori in rolling have the same problems with https sites?

I downloaded SLITAZ in 2017, thinking choosing the last "stable version", 4.0, would be the "safe bet" to try it out, as I wasn't sure how a rolling release might behave in a temporary live boot usb scenario.
I am, of course, having the same problem. the only website that works is google.com and this forum, and nothing else.
So I guess my question is:
Is it safe to install from this live version or will it be stuck at 4.0?
ie: if I install it, will it upgrade itself to 5.0 since it's a rolling release, or do I need to download a different ISO (version 5) to install from in order to get a current version that works properly?

It's been more than a year that I've been told by a member of Slitaz staff that Slitaz 5 should be stable and that they're only waiting for enough free time to do the official announcement (and the lasts tests that come with it).
So I guess that 5.0 is quite safe to use, I installed it on a computer and though I haven't used it much so far I had no concern about its stability (I had concerns about the results of my ill-advised tampering with the system, but that's another story).
Though I have an old computer with Slitaz 4.0 on it, I have never upgraded the distribution to the next stable in Slitaz, so I can't answer your next-to-last question.
