How do programs get added to the openbox menus when they are installed?

I see that they are being added automatically when I'm using the openbox.  I know antiX, a Debian distro has some kind of post install routine it runs.  I have never actually seen how it calls it, but it regenerates the menus, including the ones for JWM, as well as IceWM, Fluxbox, and now Openbox, which I just wrote the templates for and tweaked the generator for the other day.  I would like to have it also automatically generate menus for JWM after each package is installed or uninstalled under SliTaz. 

I am looking at doing that because I have old and slow machines that are maxxed out at 512 mb of memory, and last night I managed to get JWM running on SliTaz with X, jwm, panel, taskbar, menu, and terminal all running in 31 mb of memory, which is just fantastic!  Not even puppy comes close to that.

So, my thought is to get a complete JWM environment running, with all the programs I like etc, and then copy the partition off to flashdrive or even make an ISO from it, and then implement it on all my machines.  On my faster machines it should run like greased lightening and have oodles of available memory for browser tabs, especially if I can get one of the efficient ones working well.

So, could anyone please tell me where to look to see what runs that regenerates the menus post install or removal of packages?

I can explain how this works using icewm as example.

Package icewm-xdgmenu should be installed after icewm to overwrite file /usr/share/icewm/menu with this new line

menuprog "All Programs" slitaz-menu icewm-xdgmenu /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu

When icewm-xdgmenu launched: it reads categories list from applications.menu, then reads all *.desktop files from /usr/share/applications directory.

Thanks for your reply.  I will go investigate.

Later last night I was able to get the jwm version down to using 28 mb of memory.  I will still need to add my conky, but noticed at least one other thing I can trim. but I've got to get the menus to autogenerate or its just too much work to maintain them.

On my older machines having so much more memory available to the applications will do wonders for their capability and performance.
