SliTaz 5.0.cooking.base: Samba

First Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas to you all.

I am looking to access my linux box by hostname not just the ip address. I studied and see Samba is the program that provides netbios protocol support. Sadly I have limited space available on the solid state drive so when I proceed to install Samba it falls short due to running out of space on the boot drive. I there a way to strictly download/install ONLY the program dependencies necessary to simply provide netbios protocol support?
