Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

On Usb install , on first screen boot (black color) it claims that it doesn't find

rootfs4.gz .  Indeed, I just find a single rootfs.gz on my usb key .. hmm ?

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

Tazinst runs fine on tazpanel if you click on the main menu entry "Install". If one click in the sub entry "install > install", it doesn't work...

It worked for me ONLY with the default settings, and using it by command line...

Tried to install on a separated home partition, no way... (to fix it, there's a typo on the function to configure the home partition, TGTUSER should be TGT_USER).

Tried to install with a different user (claudinei), no way... I mean, it installed, but the permissions on home were set to "tux:users" and not "claudinei:users".

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

Hi all!

I'm just back from work, nice to see a new cooking release!

@claudinei: typo in home_config() is already fixed in http://hg.slitaz.org/slitaz-tools/rev/986257e0657e

For the other bugs found in tazinst, please wait, I need first to download my own cooking release..

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

@erjo

If user clicks Install in title bar and doesn't use the drop down menu.

User goes to Installer Start Page:

http://tazpanel:82/installer.cgi?page=home

Then click's Install SliTaz button or Upgrade Slitaz button.

tazinst writes /var/lib/tazinst.conf

If Install or Upgrade from drop down menu is clicked user skips the Installer Start Page and goes directly to the Slitaz Installer page:

http://tazpanel:82/installer.cgi?page=install

or the Slitaz Ugrade page:

http://tazpanel:82/installer.cgi?page=upgrade

/var/lib/tazinst.conf is not written.

The KISS solution is to remove the Installer drop down from here :

http://hg.slitaz.org/tazpanel/file/c195a156f892/styles/default/header.html

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

Hi.

@mojo as usual you are clear with your bug report and provide a solution! Fantastic! Personnaly I dont like these dropdown menu but it may be useful for quicker access, so will remove the dropdown menu for install and leave others. That said you have access to repo if you want to do it ? Like that I can do something else...

@dbojan SliTaz core provide a full featured desktop, SliTaz base is around 9Mb and will boot into a text mode system without X, it is ideal for servers or old computer since you can boot the base in Live mode but install the full desktop to HD. And yes for sure persistant changes are supported, please read the doc :-)

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

@romano: try with

kernel /boot/bzimage

initrd /boot/rootfs4.gz /boot/rootfs3.gz /boot/rootfs2.gz /boot/rootfs1.gz

Yes you need to load 4 rootfs !

How much RAM do you have ?

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

@claudinei: your tips on button "install" is good, the install procedure that you describe worked for me, but when i tried to open tazpanel the password for root was no longer good. So , in console i must invoke the command [c]tazpanel passwd[/c] for retype the password and with [c]tazpanel stop[/c] and [c]tazpanel start[/c] i was able to open tazpanel again.

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

Worked for me, finally! Thanks, it looks much better than 3.0 or even cooking. Nicher button, icons, freshly polished surface.

What did you  do with the software as in my case the ,,official" iso did not make it possible to get an Xscreen, so you offered a second ,,special" one. I would like to understand what has been done to  solve the problem. I say it again: in the last months Xserver problems were the main headaches with slitaz in case one uses a bit aged nvidia graphic cards.

And finally - why does this software not run on it?

http://sourceforge.net/settings/mirror_choices?projectname=kompozer&filename=current/0.8b3/linux-i686/kompozer-0.8b3.de.gcc4.2-i686.tar.gz

May be my brain is too small to understand the reason. It runs on 2.0 with ease; there was an earlier cooking where I had to install seamonkey to make it run. A pity, really...

Re: SliTaz 4.0-RC1 - Feedback

I spent a few hours to test the new rc1 slitaz4 report some problems.

I can not appreciate improvements in boot speed, graphics retards several tens of seconds to show the desktop (I also tried the version is the same defect but http://is.gd/TazDevISO) unique version of previous functioning properly Xvesa hope becomes available for this.

According to the connection pppoe bug is missing the file / usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5/rp-pppoe.so not work without it.

The keyboard only works with standard settings en us, even if the location is correct.

Only in the closing sprint to get a real shutdown

I appreciated their efforts but IMHO it has been said many times that SliTaz is not ubuntu and now me dressed like that hmm there is no problem for me in half an hour I have erased all traces, but it was not a good impression this choice.

Thanks for your time

Gibor

2012-02-19

libpng

All branches of libpng prior to versions 1.5.9, 1.4.9, 1.2.47, and 1.0.57, respectively, fail to correctly validate a heap allocation in png_decompress_chunk(), which can lead to a buffer-overrun and the possibility of execution of hostile code.

fixed in libpng 1.5.9.

2012-02-16

firefox

libpng integer overflow

fixed in Firefox 10.0.2,

2012-02-16

2012-01-16

postfix    users could inject malicious SQL code

fixed in postfix 2.3.5.

2012-01-18

openssl

A malicious TLS client can send an invalid set of GOST parameters which will cause the server to crash due to lack of error checking. This could be used in a denial-of-service attack.

fixed in openssl 1.0.0f or 1.0.0g.

2012-01-10

wireshark

Multiple Wireshark file parser vulnerabilities,

fixed in wireshark 1.4.11, 1.6.5 or later.

lighttpd

out-of-bounds read due to signedness error

fixed in cyrus-imapd 2.4.12 or later.

2011-07-18

asterisk

Possible remote enumeration of SIP endpoints with differing NAT settings

fixed in asterisk 1.4.43, 1.6.2.21, and 1.8.7.2.

2011-07-07

qemu

virtio subsystem in qemu-kvm do not properly validate virtqueue in and out requests from the guest. A privileged guest user could use this flaw to trigger a buffer overflow, allowing them to crash the guest (denial of service) or, possibly, escalate their privileges on the host.

fixed in qemu 0.13.0 or later.
