... was wandering, did anybody manage to install the new bcm431x wl driver module from official broadcom website?
http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php
the fact is that, it indeed compiles ok in v4, but when insmod it aborts with:
wl: Unknown symbol cfg80211_inform_bss (err 0)
wl: Unknown symbol cfg80211_inform_bss_frame (err 0)
so just for test, I commented away those calls from the code, but it gets even worst, segmentation fault.
For the sole reason of testing that driver, I downloaded bloody ubuntu and tested there: it seemed all works ok.
So why I do want that driver in v4?
That driver claims to override tx power till 32dbm, monitor mode with 11n frames, stable no-disconnect managed mode, and so on... for who has this card, knows how much those improvements would be a miracle...
EDIT:
forgot to add, I have upgraded already long ago to backports 3.12, so I'm not using the default v4 wireless drivers.
Also I noticed that for ubuntu, that driver needs quite a lot of patching, because of newest cfg80211 management.
Tried those patches but error keeps coming.
So... if anybody solved that issue, would be nice, very, to report, thanks!
