Re: Italian Translation

Hi,

Yes you can! You can even be the main italien maintainer since we dont have italien yet. Ther is several way to help in translation. The first thing woul be to transate the main website page so we can have http://www.slitaz.org/it/, then you may want to translate other website pages and applications using standard gettext POT files.

We dont use git but Mercurial: tazpkg get-install mercurial (if you have question about installing and using git, read the doc... and post in the main support forum or the mailing list.

If you want to clone the website, translate a page and then send it to the mailing list, you must:

$ hg clone http://hg.slitaz.org/

If you feel confortable with Mercurial you can have Hg access to SliTaz repos and sent directly you work, the website is update once by night. To start I can help you with the website and create an italien template for you

and we can create a Italian suport forum to start a new community language and maybe get more help. Motivate to help in a italian forum ?

PS: It's not the first time I anser to such a request and I think it's time to have a complet guide about translation... I will improve http://www.slitaz.org/i18n.php

Re: Italian Translation

Hello, I discovered this project just some hours ago and I like it smile Since I'm Italian but I work in UK I could help to translate everything you need in my free time.

I could start with HomePage and linked pages, If you are interested please send files to translate to "y.house@hotmail.it" and I will send you back them in a very short time.

See you soon =P

Re: Italian Translation

No problem wink Anyway, there are already 2 IRC official channels of SliTaz. The main is "irc.alterinet.org #slitaz" and the second is "irc.freenode.net #slitaz".

They don't look very active.. =P

See you soon wink

Re: Italian Translation

Hi guys,

So I see a tiny Italian community as began, realy cool! So I also created a Wiki page for documentation. You can manage it as you want and it's a wiki so you can all participate, just follow the SliTaz doc guidelines. here is the link:

http://doc.slitaz.org/it:start

Re: Italian Translation

Hi Italian community,

You might be happy to know we will include Italian locale pack in th next cooking and so in 4.0. This meany all core LiveCD applications will be translated to Italian if it is choose when configuring system locale. I also commited a package called locale-it-extra wich provide translation files for many popular packages such as Gimp, Abiword, Pidgin.

If you want more translation in extra locale pack, please let me know.

Also, we may need to update some *.desktop files to have a full Italian menu with translated applications name. By the way we have a repo/package called slitaz-doc wich provide system doc with a Quick start guide, I guess it would be nice to have it in Italian on all SliTaz systems. Any one to do this job ?
