starting cups deamon

hej

Just installed SliTaz 5.0 from a live iso, and I am now

trying to set up a canon usb printer (ip4850).

1)installed cups

2) read the online documentation

3)adjusted the deamon startup file and the cups config file

4)rebooted

5)connection to localhost:631 failed (no connection) ...although  http://localhost reports the index

6)stoped cupsd as root ... message>Terminated

7)(as root) # /etc/init.d/cupsd start ... gives the following message:

Starting cups deamon: Cups... /usr/sbin/cupsd: error while loading shared libraries:

libgnutls.so.28: cannot open shared object file: Nosuch file or directory [Failed]

so my question is: where do I go from here?

ps. second question is it possible to run dual monitors... arandr does not recognise this option

thanks for an otherwise vere nice and well working quick little distro :-)

Re: starting cups deamon

Hi,

Searching for file "libgnutls.so.28" on pkgs.slitaz.org:

http://pkgs.slitaz.org/search.sh?file=libgnutls.so.28

... and found that you need to install "libgnutls" package.

Dependencies of the "cups" package:

http://pkgs.slitaz.org/search.sh?depends=cups

... contains "libgnutls". So, something wrong on your side. Try to install or reinstall whole cups, or at least install or reinstall libgnutls:

[c]# tazpkg -gi libgnutls --forced[/c]

Touching second question. LXRandr from Applications menu can help you with dual monitors settings. But you should properly set up Xorg video-drivers before it. Maybe "# tazx" helps you.

Re: starting cups deamon

Hej

Thank you for your reply, it solved the problem of getting access to cups (@localhost), although i was not able to log in, so i did a re-install keeping the default user/root passwords, this gave access to the admin area... so far so good... in following the documentation of installing a usb printer, i still needed to install  the various "foo" files, but after this it was not possible to log in cups any longer.... i tried logging ind and out and rebooting a few times with no luck. So seeing that slitaz 5.0 otherwise workes well for me, though no printer, I was wondering if perhaps one of the earlier versions of slitaz can supply a working printer setup?

ps I can live without a printer but it would be nice

Get full instructions from Canon iP4850 Manual- guideusermanual.com/product-name-ip4850-manual&po=216855&lang=English about how you use single printer with multiple systems wireless.
