Re: problem with internet dial up gprs edge

You need to download the following packages:

http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/cooking/linux-dialup-2.6.37.tazpkg

http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/cooking/xplc-0.3.13.tazpkg

http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/cooking/wvstreams-4.6.1.tazpkg

http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/cooking/wvdial-1.61.tazpkg

http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/cooking/gnome-ppp-0.3.23.tazpkg

Put them on a USB Memory stick and then boot up SliTaz. Copy all the packages to your home folder (the one you go to when you double click on the My Documents icon on your desktop). Now open xterm  from your 'start' menu. Then do the following:

1. Type [c]su[/c] and press the enter/return key. Enter your root password (default is root) and press the enter/return key. You are now in root mode.

2. Type [c]tazpkg install linux-dialup-2.6.37.tazpkg[/c] and press the enter/return key.

3. Type [c]tazpkg install xplc-0.3.13.tazpkg[/c] and press the enter/return key.

4. Type [c]tazpkg install wvstreams-4.6.1.tazpkg[/c] and press the enter/return key.

5. Type [c]tazpkg install wvdial-1.61.tazpkg[/c] and press the enter/return key.

6. Type [c]tazpkg install gnome-ppp-0.3.23.tazpkg[/c] and press the enter/return key.

7. Type [c]modprobe cdc_acm[/c] and press the enter/return key.

8. Type [c]modprobe option[/c] and press the enter/return key.

9. Plug in the phone with it's USB cable to the PC.

10. Type [c]dmesg[/c] and press the enter/return key.

11. Look for something like:

[c]usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
cdc_acm 1-1:1.8: ttyACM0: USB ACM device[/c]
or

[c]usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
usb-serial 1-1:1.8: ttyUSB0: USB device[/c]
Note the ttyUSB or ttyACM device - it may NOT be ttyUSB0 or ttyACM0

13. Type gnome-ppp press the enter/return key.

14. In the gnome-ppp box that pops up, click on the Setup button.

15. In the Device text box, enter the ttyUSB or ttyACM device you noted before with dmesg. It should look something like this:

[c]/dev/ttyUSB0[/c] or [c]/dev/ttyACM0[/c]

16. Click close and enter the number *99# into the Phone number box if it's not there already. Click the connect button.

If everything worked perfectly, you should be connected now.
