keyboard-wrong characters-unfindable

A chairde,

reinstalled Slitaz after not using it for a while. Now characters are mixed up or unavailable on the Keyboard, eg. no / to be found, : located under ? and a few others. Leaves it hard to type text or commands.  Any body fit to help.

More information is strongly required. Here I wrote commands, please execute them in the terminal and post its output here in the forum.

What is your SliTaz release?

[c]cat /etc/slitaz-release[/c]
Where are you from? Seems (based on your forum profile info) like you are from Ireland.

What is your locale settings?

[c]cat /etc/locale.conf[/c]
What is keyboard layout is used in the Ireland? Based on the Wikipedia article Languages of Ireland it is "Irish or British QWERTY" (picture in the right column of the article). Right?

What is your keyboard settings?

[c]cat /proc/cmdline[/c]
What is actual settings of your keyboard?

[c]cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-Keyboard.conf[/c]

Thanks Aleksej,

you weren't long about getting back to me. Aye, Ireland, Irish Speaking part. Do most of my typing in that language. With Ubuntu there is a setting for an Irish language suitable keyboard. With Windows the default one works using ctrl AltGr + vowel for the accents, which are all that are needed to type in Irish.

Slitaz has ga_IE listed but doesn't seem to work. Tried the one for Scottish Gaeilic and it didn't work either. I'd like to be able to type in Irish on Slitaz but the bigger problem is the keyboard mixups as described in my post. Thanks for the commands. Here are the results:

I just rebooted into my old SliTaz 4.0. But can't reboot it without loosing all the changes because it is frugal. Seems it should work for you too... Please, edit your file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-Keyboard.conf as root user. Change two letters "br" into "ie". That's all. Save and reboot SliTaz.

I can enter letters ÉéÚúÍíÓóÁá and other by holding Alt key and pressing the letters.

Soapy Bubble! Them two letters worked the best ever you see. Now possible for me to write anything with Slitaz.

Another wee problem totally unrelated emerged though.  The wee program menu in the left hand corner absconded. I'd appreciate any suggestions for tracking it down.  I can get programs with the command line of course; but the wee boy in the corner is handy.

Nice to hear it works.

To recall how to solve Menu problem in the old SliTaz 4.0 I dug the Forum. Seems like this link is relevant: http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/start-menu-task-tray-bar-gone

You need to stop LXPanel if it not stopped yet ([c]killall lxpanel[/c]), remove all the cached menu files from ~/.cache/menus folder, and start LXPanel again ([c]lxpanel -p slitaz[/c]). Hope again.
