How to use iw to set country code for world regulatory domain?

I've been running Slitaz for a few years on an old Asus EeePC 900, with the 4GB PATA interface SSD and 2GB of RAM, for which it is well suited.  I'm not sure when the problem started, but lately it has been unable to stay connected via wireless.  I know that the wireless card is working and set up properly, because it connects for a few seconds every two minutes.  Dmesg log shows the problem as CRDA not being able to update world regulatory domain. I've managed to install iw via sneakernet, but have not been able to configure the country code so that it stays set.

As root:

What am I doing incorrectly?  Should I be approaching the problem from another angle?  Have I given enough information?

The "country 00" is worldwide, with minimum values which are allowed in every country.

This country is the default and used when the database, regulatory.bin, can not be found or is not valid signed.

I assume that the country code is not the reason of your problems.

check which channels are available.(iwlist channel)

and set the wifi AP accordingly.

Hi sixofeight,

Thank you for taking the time to respond.  Unfortunately, I ran out of time, needed to use the netbook, so wiped it and installed Lubuntu 14.04.2 LTS which, though much slower, works without issue.

Since this topic will likely not be of assistance to anyone, I would not object to a site admin deleting it to avoid clutter.
