Still hangin' in.....and slowly getting there...!

Morning, all.

Well, as you may recall, I installed SliTaz 4.0 (stable), about 6 weeks ago. Haven't done very much with it, yet, as I've been over in Canada visiting relatives for the last month or so.

Back in the UK now, and having a play around. Got Firefox installed, and, naturally, needed flashplayer installed. Hmmm....

Trixar_za wasn't far wrong when he said that using SliTaz is like learning Linux all over again! Mind you, having been using it for a year or so, it's not like I haven't come across a lot of the pitfalls by now. It's the first time I've actually had to CREATE the /usr/lib/firefox/plugins directory, BEFORE I could extract the Adobe tar.gz download into it...

If I'd come to SliTaz straight from Windoze, I would have been lost...TOTALLY.

What I now need some advice with is networking stuff; specifically, how to get my wireless and mobile broadband dongles up-and-running.

The wireless dongle is a TP-Link WN-725N 150 MBps 'nano' USB dongle. It uses the Realtek RTL8188EUS chipset (driver?), and is easy to connect in my Puppy Linux installs.

Mine is actually the V2, NOT the V1.The mobile broadband dongle is another kettle of fish entirely! It's an eight -year old Huawei K3565; if I can find some info I'll post it. Bear with me... Ah! Here we are; just a brief synopsis:-

I'll have a further dig around, and see if I can find out what chipset it uses. Until that's discovered, I know we can't get any further, so....bear with me, please.

Hallo again, boys & girls.

Now; I've unearthed this page. The E160, apparently, is Huawei's internal code for the K3565; I suspect this was probably a model number used only in the UK/Europe.

It uses the Qualcomm MSM6246 chipset. I have NO experience with 'tweaking' these things at all; the only distro I've ever got it to work in was Ubuntu (and its derivavtives), where it connected straight away.....after going through the set-up procedure.

Nobody in 'Puppy-Land' appears to have had much experience with it, either.

Anybody have any ideas how I'd go about getting the K3565 working? And how would I set it up in SliTaz? Is there a driver available for it?

Sakis3G could probably run your 3G dongle. I really should update my package for SliTaz 5.
