MATE + Slitaz

Install mate-session-manager, marco and yuyo-gtk-theme:

tazpkg -gi mate-session-manager

tazpkg -gi marco

tazpkg -gi yuyo-gtk-theme

Update your applications.conf:

leafpad ~/.config/slitaz/applications.conf

Change the last line to:

WINDOW_MANAGER="mate-session"

You can also start the mate window manager on start up:

leafpad /etc/init.d/local.sh

And create a new line writing marco (MATE's window manager)

marco

Now reboot, and your system will look like this.

Re: MATE + Slitaz

@mscythe

Hi, Yuri, sorry but I see just mate-system-monitor running on LXDE:lxpanel+pcmanfm+openbox (instead of caja+marco) on you screenshot, not MATE.

It may work for you, but testing process includes installation of new packages on default live cd/usb system.

For example, begin to test only caja.

You have removed following line, but caja cannot perform [c]1-st run[/c] without this files, so restore this:

[c]cp -a $install/usr/share/glib-2.0 $fs/usr/share[/c]

Removed [c]mate-desktop[/c] from caja DEPENDS but why, it's required, please restore.

All [c]libtool[/c] in DEPENDS should be replaced by [c]libltdl[/c]

for [c]mate-desktop[/c] too

libtool is dev-package, so its place is only in BUILD_DEPENDS

Missing a lot of files in /usr/share. Did you ever tried to use your own packages?

I'll continue testing next week, and maybe hg push this to wok (if you not).

Re: MATE + Slitaz

@az_ua: Thank you for your reply, I didn't know about libltdl. I made many changes in the packages but I probably uploaded wrong versions of them, I am sorry.

I think you already did those changes on packages, thank you very much.

I am very busy these days but I usually try to improve/add some MATE package.

EDIT: And you are right, wmctrl -m gives me Openbox as window manager.

Marco only works when I type: marco --replace

Re: MATE + Slitaz

It would be nice to have MATE desktop working on SliTaz... :-) Many other Linux have it.

As we don't have information about MATE at Slitaz Doc, if you make it work and post a tutorial here (as done at the first post), I could write a new MATE section at Slitaz Doc to help other users. ;-)

Re: MATE + Slitaz

@Genesis: MATE is not exactly supported by Slitaz, I am slowly uploading some mate packages and I don't know what the other devs think about that. MATE is the default desktop in my computers and I like to use Slitaz in my all computers.

Hope others enjoy it too.

Re: MATE + Slitaz

Another print with marco, caja, mate-terminal, mate-control-center, mate-system-monitor and mate-panel, using yuyo-gtk-theme.
