today in my post box: the weekly paper from the next self-service store,,,
it offers reduces the price from SanDisk USB Stick Cruzer Blade 128 GB from 71,00 Euro down to 27,95 next week!
I find it is absurd and terrible for environment and the supply of raw materials of the next generation...
why?
because if I have a 128 GB USB stick, I will probably not keep all the other one... Billions of USB sticks are suddenly worthless and can be discarded, and, as there is no deposit on such products to secure that they are collected carefully to not lose the raw materials the USB stick (how will go extra to a collecting place for a few gramm material, no one!) have a
TERRIBLE EFFECT
on the environment and assessment of our world wide raw material stocks.
distros making from the use of USB sticks a main focus accelerate that bad movement terribly...
pls back to the hard disk, quickly!!!
next problem, but only for users: can each hardware, can each OS manage correctly those big USB sticks?

Generally I agree with you, but in case of computers, I am a fan of this "reduction" - I still have my SCSI hard disks, where I payed 200 € for 2 GB....
but I also have my SanDisk Cruzer Fit 64GB - three years ago, it was about 120€ - where my SliTaz /home is stored.
And how much USB sticks do I have? 1 x 64MB, 1 x 2GB, 1 x 8 GB + 1 x 64 GB and all are in use....

maximum 5W and you can run beside SLiTAz Win 10 on it. It will replace my Futros A250 with Geode LX800 - the futros have Maximum 10 W - so I had to wait 10 years, until I get half of the energy consumtion......
and why should be no deposit for those products - we have it here and I think it must be possible by law evrywhere in Europe - but I dont bring it there - I bring useful things to an organisation, who gives the stuff to refuges for free....

I already have an (old) tablet, pure Android (early version): HTC flyer, with an external keyboard. it supports AndropenOffice, but the keyboard works bad (quality bluetooth KB for Apple) in Office. I would like tablets but they are to much restrictions. The major one is to need to root them...
son did give me his old PC, a DELL laptop 4 core 64 bit intel i7 2670 QM 2,2 GHz 8 GB / 750 GB, 1920 x 1080 pixels. it is not a tablet but can more, espec. compile fast...
my wife has the old mac book 160 GB HD of his wife (until a few weeks with did both, she and I, have our old DELL Optiplex SX280 with Pentium and under 1 GB ram)...
yes, all of the son... this is the result of the sad fact that she has lost her parents within one year, both from each a cancer, and that many things had to be rearranged (keep, or thrown away). the consumption of energy is low in sleeping mode. but I don't know how to make a full install of SliTaz on this terrible machine having the macOS (I report on it in this forum as I did see on other forum, that it is a real problem: an important number of those old machines did change the owners in the years, and a great number of new owners would have been interesting to install linux, because they came from Linux, but have no simple solution excepted dual both with an external medium).
and that is one of the problems from tablet actually: guy's develope for Android and tablets on usual PC because of the CPU and peripherie power.
(I did compile LFS on my old DELL Optiplex: about 3 days, ok, with pauses in the night, only for the base... If you want to compile all the BLFS, you will become an old man...)
and one of my goal would be to do that to build a SliTaz like entirely from sources and with a good "from scratch" documentation as the two old SliTaz-from-scratch doc's on the site are very old for a very old matter! I already did propose it on that forum, without reaction (as I did yet have my old to simple PC Dell Optiplex with Pentium at this time, it was not very urgent for me: I did expect a new PC more powerfull but did not have it already! so it was not actual to claim the absent reaction at the forum).
