Wireless works, but can't connect if no encryption

Hi

taz is a trusty little system that saved me quite a few times, so when a neighbour came with a clunky old laptop that lags on XP and is filled with malware, I set it up with SliTaz.

I've managed to set up wireless, and managed to connect to a WPA network I shared over my laptop, but I can't seem to figure out why it won't connect to his own network with no password (encryption="off").

The network works fine, it's the network I shared through my laptop, but taz can't connect to it.

I've looked through the forums, googled for the issue in general (using "linux" keyword), but have found nothing. I'm probably overlooking something but can't figure out what.

Help please?

Follow the directions to downgrade to one of the older versions of slitaz-boot-scripts which are attached to the thread.
