plz help me with vlc!

I'm a newb to all of this so sorry if i don't understand something,baisically if i try to open some videos in vlc it says it doesn't support the resolution or something plz hlp.

To get help you will have to post the exact error message, at least.

I can't get the error message to show up right now because i have no vids to test it with but i think the error message was something like:

This video cannot be played because the resolution is not supported(rather too big)

and other videos have no display at all just sound.
