Hi,I am a complete newb so i don't know if this is the right place to be putting this.Ok so basically.....
1.During boot up when i reach the spot where it says
Requesting events from kernel
it freezes and it seems the only way to get past it is to hold the enter button.
2.In the username and pssword entry screen if i press one wrong button and everthing will get messed up and i have to reboot.
3.The taskbar which has the start button and the tabs is gone and no matter how much i reboot,it doesn't come back.
4.Sometimes after boot up all the text is messed up and doesn't show properly even when you're typing but it shows properly in programs like firefox, also the background graphics can also get messed up but that can easily be fixed by switching around the background imgages.
So i hope someone can help because my sister is going nuts over this.XD

These are strange problems. Did you remove packages from the initial install?
I were you I'd try this:
- backup important data;
- reinstall from scratch;
- if this still doesn't work, install RC3 (I think you currently have the rolling version?)
If this doesn't work we will try to address each one of your problems:
1. At this stage there is no possible user interaction I think, so "hold the enter button" is the same as "wait". There must be a hardware device that is slow to react or something. Sometimes it helps to force loading of some kernel modules. Post the result of "lsmod".
2. What do you call "one wrong button"? If you make a mistake when typing username or password, you just have to hit Enter and wait a bit to obtain a new prompt for username.
3. Try to create a new user account: it comes "fresh" with default config files. To launch Tazpanel, right-click, Favorite applications > Terminal, then type "tazpanel".
4. What do you mean by "all the text is messed up"? Strange symbols? Scrambled display? For the latter you can try this: edit file /boot/grub/menu.lst, and at the end of the "kernel ..." line add: "nomodeset". (You installed Slitaz on harddisk, right?)

2.I don't really know but i think it's one of the symbols like . and , so when press those the screen glitches out, meaning that different blocks of graphics are scrambled up and the text becomes invisible but i can still type things get through the screen and everything turns normal afterwards.
3.Yeah the result of tazpanel is this root or no root:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Blank space)
Usage: tazpanel [start|stop|passwd]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and it didn't work.....also I have alot of stuff shortcuted to the desktop.
also 1 sec (actually from 1 to 24 hours)

4."all the text is messed up"? Strange symbols? Scrambled display? about sums it up except only sometimes does that happen AND programs and applications are just fine(and yes i did install slitaz to harddirve,it's the only thing on there(also it's a really old HDD)).
1.Yeah SOMETIMES if i leave it alone it works
Other Stuff:
1.give me a couple days to do the whole reinstall thing
2.What is RC3?
3.i have to go sleep now i'll post the result of lsmod(Lowercase L right?)tommorow
4.In menu.lst there's alot of kernel(actually about 2 or 3)so i need help...
EDIT:also can you copy and paste in any of the prebuilt terminals and if so plz show me how.
..................................................................................................................................................................................................
i've come to a realization...............I think i'm using Tiny Slitaz................MIND BLOW.

lsmod(Lowercase L right?)
Right. But do this only if installing 5-RC3 doesn't solve the problem.
4.In menu.lst there's alot of kernel(actually about 2 or 3)so i need help
There is one "kernel ..." line for each "title ...". Change the one you use to boot.
also can you copy and paste in any of the prebuilt terminals
Do you mean copy *from* the terminal? Normally you can do it the same way as everywhere in Linux: select text with left-click-hold and-move, then middle-click where you want to paste.
I think i'm using Tiny Slitaz
OK, try Slitaz 5 RC3 then: http://www.slitaz.org/en/get/#cooking

Yeah you're right this PC is dying because turning it on is even a hassle.
OK first of all i'm gonna do a reinstall and if that doesn't work then i'll try these other things.
