pb with pdgin

Starting yesterday, Pidgin starts but there is no notification window in the systray.

I can hear people are connecting/disconnecting though, and the pidgin process is here.

Just, no window.

Tried to start from a new user (ie, root), i get the dialog box to create an account which start as expected ie i have  dialog window opening (but still nothing in the systray and if i close /start again then, again, nothing.

Any idea ?

Tx

Re: pb with pdgin

menu/internet/pidgin

Tools/Preferences/Interface/System Tray Icon/Show System Tray Icon: Always/Close

Rt/Click  Lxpanel by Volume Control/Add/Remove Panel Items

Verify System Tray is above Volume Control

Check to make sure your don't a second bottom lxpanel stacked on top the first bottom lxpanel hiding the icon.

Re: pb with pdgin

interestingly when i killed lxpanel to make sure, the pidgin contact list appeared....

but still not going to notification zone

skype is not appearing there either

and, yes, the notification zone is just above Volume control

and when i kill lxpanel then run it from a terminal it says:

tux@slitaz:~$ lxpanel

** (lxpanel:3649): DEBUG: cache file_name = /home/tux/.cache/menus/c2f0ae26c143be40296469144d0bc511

tray: another systray already running

is it expected (that another sytray is already running) ?

I could imagine that the icons end up there

Re: pb with pdgin

Verify you don't have a second bottom lxpanel covering the notification icons:

Panel Preferences/Geometry/Height  lower the number which will lower the lxpanel.

Re: pb with pdgin

good catch

there is another panel hidden below (and only on lxpanel process)

I suppressed it and rebooted and everything looks back as expected.

interesting that a second panel would appear out of nowhere....

thanks a lot
