More Xfun with 5.0 on another machine

The log says Xorg didn't find module "nv" (which is used in your ST4). Did you install package xorg-xf86-video-nv?

Yes - but I booted from the Live-CD. When I got the black screen I recharged the packages and then used tazx. According to it nv was installed, but not used. With lsmod I only saw nouveau. - As far as I remember, but vague, in this case one has to blacklist nouveau from the beginning. But how to do that with a Live-CD  I do not know.

@michaelbischof, not sure whether this is of any use to you or not, but I had a similar problem with a nVidia Geforce 9800 GT card (pretty old). I ended up downloading the nVidia 304 driver from the nVidia site and compiled it. It runs without any issues now and can run Compiz as well - except that I need to recompile it sometimes when certain dependencies are updated.

The blacklisting thing is for avoiding a manual unloading/loading at each boot. But for a test you can do this:

[c]modprobe -r nouveau
modprobe other_module[/c]
*However*, you're talking here about the kernel module. This is not to be confused with the Xorg driver!

"According to (tazx) nv was installed, but not used.": can you post that log then (Xorg.2.log IIRC)?

Thanks! I will do this but I cannot do it before 27.12.2015 as I am not at home now. Have a happy Christmas, an analog one, ofcourse! ;-)

Solved now. I used a Live-CD slitaz-rolling from 25.11.2015. I got again a black screen. Then I recharged the packages with

   tazpkg recharge

and typed „tazx“, selected „auto“. 2 packages, something like „mesa-dri“ and another dri-like thing were installed.

Then I typed „slim“ and got into my Xscreen. Lsmod shows me that the nouveau-driver is in use.
