A few questions about Browsers and Keys

Hello guys. I installed Slitaz 4.0 core on my laptop.

Here there are some questions. I hope I posted in the right section.

1)I followed the instructions I found in this forum to install Google Chrome.

Terminal says me that the installation successufully ended.

But I can't find Chrome! Where si it? On Windows OS, installations creates .exe files on the desktop. I tryed to search the file in the hdd but...nothing

2)Taz Browser (ever) and Midori (sometimes) don't work... network is OK bit I have this error "Per failed to perfotm TLS handshake"

3)Where can I reduce/increase screen brightness of my laptop? Keyboard hotkeys doesn't work... I read about a package, where can i find IT?

4)Why can't I use the Windows key?

Is there a way to install the ctrl - x -c -v "function"?

Hi!

About your question number 4, please read this documentation page:

http://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:xbindkeys

There you can find a way to get Windows keys working.

About question 2: try this:

- open a terminal

- type google

- hit TAB and see if there is some entry like "google-chrome" at the list

If it exists, just type it when you want to use Chrome.

Tazweb and Midori versions are now too old in SliTaz 4.0.

With SliTaz 4.0, I use Iron-Linux now.

Ceel, thank you a lot for your advice.

I has never heard about this software.

Now I know that the problem isn't mine but it belongs from the "old age" of those 2 browsers.

My last question for ALL the users.

When I boot Slitaz I have to login with a Name and a Password.

Now, Suddenly the OS doesn't boot anymore... I have the command line OS that Ask me to insert my login and password.

It says that they are always WRONG!! And yet those 2 words worked when I used them to log-in in the "graphic" OS...

Why Slitaz now ask me these things? And why don't it work?

Hi,

So two problems: no graphical login screen, and password not recognized?

About the password problem:

In the text login prompt, try to type the _password_ when asked the _login_ just to see if the letters come out right: if the keyboard is messed up, the login may come out right but not the password, and since you don't see the password when you type it, you may not notice it!

About the graphical login: did you change anything compared to when it worked (update, new packages...)? On the text login, log in as root, then read /var/log/Xorg.0.log to find errors.
