P.S.
I forgot to mention that I have setup the mirror to ...
[c]
tazpkg setup-mirror http://mirror.slitaz.org/packages/3.0/
[/c]
... and that internally SliTaz seems to juggle the upload between a number of servers, of which only 37.187.4.13:80 doesn't work.

mirror.slitaz.org return mirror1.slitaz.org , mirror2.slitaz.org or mirror3.slitaz.org
Either one of these mirrors as lost files or busybox/wget in 3.0 does not support multiple DNS answers
(or redirections).
Anyway your can use one of mirrors :
http://mirror2.slitaz.org/packages/3.0/ or http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/slitaz/packages/3.0/ (the fastest)
http://mirror3.slitaz.org/packages/3.0/ or http://download.tuxfamily.org/slitaz/packages/3.0/ (fast enough)

Whole list of current mirrors still keeps SliTaz-3.0 packages:

[*]ftp://slitaz.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/slitaz/packages/3.0/
[*]http://slitaz.c3sl.ufpr.br/packages/3.0/
[*]http://download.tuxfamily.org/slitaz/packages/3.0/
(Based on examining http://mirror1.slitaz.org/packages/3.0/ )

Thanks Pascal & Aleksej. I have already switched to TuxFamily's new Malibu server. If I remember this correctly, there was a similar problem some years ago. Instead of *.tazpkg files the download directory had eponymously named package directories in it, which is why cpio complained about the 'unsupported format'.
