WIFI in Rolling shows as being not connected but is!

I am using Rolling 10Apr2016 on an eeePC701SDX and it runs really well and is generally quick....it feels slick and sophisticted.

WIFI is found automatically during the boot process and is there and ready to go at start up. However, the WIFI/connected symbol in the panel doesn't refect the connected state....it shows as disconnected with a red X. I can enter and correct the status manually but I guess it should happen during the boot process.

Doesn't bother me but just pointing it out.

Click on the icon and select your connection device (likely wlan0) instead of eth0.

Hi Bellard.....and thanks, I know it can be done manually but since everything else is so sophisticated I thought there might be a small repair job to make the icon respond to the boot-up process automatically.

Hi plumtreed,

Thank you for using the SliTaz!

I'll realize your good idea. But, as usually, the amount of my free time is under question, please wait. Today or, likely, in the next week Tuesday-Wednesday.

Hello Aleksej...wish I was competent enough to help but I'm not. There is certainly no need to divert your attention from more important things.

....and I do use Slitaz routinely since about 2008, and, frankly I am very fond of it.

Re: WIFI in Rolling shows as being not connected but is!

Hi plumtreed,

Please, download and install new slitaz-boot-scripts package (version ≥ 428).

You can stop/start network using terminal commands like

[c]/etc/init.d/network.sh stop
/etc/init.d/network.sh start[/c]
You can change main network configuration file [c]/etc/network.conf[/c] to change [c]INTERFACE[/c] and [c]WIFI_INTERFACE[/c] variables using text editor,

or use TazPanel to do the same.

In both cases you'll get Freedesktop notifications, and LXPanel Network applet icon will reflect current network interface chosen (icon changed actually via /etc/init.d/network.sh script on stop/start).
