trying to read an ovg (video) file vlc complains

No suitable decoder module:

VLC does not support the audio or video format "theo". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

that exactly same version with Crunchbang will open the file though....

Anything that can be done to fix it ?

Maybe try mojo's custom compiled package:

Install with tazpkg install libvlc-0.9.9a.tazpkg --forced
