i'm going to disturb you starting this night, and maybe a little bit after, to send you though this topic some unconvenient thing about our beloved fast and light slitaz dist.
firstly, just know that you probably missed some information supposed coming from your new members, because since few days at least, registrations on the forum are not finished by the automatic email subscription :
#1 registred wednesday or thursday, no mail at all for at least 24 hours. Just asked to a dev to change my password to be able to post this message.
seems very great for new forum users, they just can't use it lol
#2 is there an independant tool for wifi, featuring :
remembering wifi encryption keys even when we are switching between few different essid, avoiding to re-enter the wifi key each time..
able to connect to any kind of wifi regarding security : eap, peap, mschap, all you can find in SMB offices or universities, public organisms for wifi security, without having to use the wpa_supplicant files
without being mandatory to enter root password for saving keys, like in a .wifi folder.. in others distro, the wifi network could be switched without root password fortunately.
(and by the way being able to share internet connection thought wifi/wired, and as possible to create a shared-zone easily -less than 30sec- to share documents between two slitaz.. maybe i'm dreaming, but users are allowed to dream for their slitaz usage)
#3 the best one : i'm trying to set-up an exclusive-ipv6 network, meaning no ipv4 at all. Even windows xp deals with ipv6only, like slitaz. But like xp, slitaz just doesnt resolve dns even by putting 'nameserver fe80::....' to the resolv file.
how could i do an entire ipv6 without any ipv4, and with the $ù!)à ipv6 name resolution?
#4, i dont have it right now but be sure to make slitaz great again, i'll do everything to shake problems here to devs to make slitaz beloved again
(yes, if teams arent shake regarding the community, users can wait a long time..)
#5 a utility for power-management, as automatic sleep or pm-suspend after delay, maybe? or hard-drive inactivity.. it could be useful..

Hi lm2, again,
#2: did you try the "Network -> Wireless" page in the TazPanel? I've teach it to save multiple networks settings, i.e. ESSID, security type (open, WEP, WPA/WPA2), etc. It can't recall settings for the hidden networks, and it need the root permissions as it was early on SliTaz, but I think it almost what you described here. You can invoke it also pressing the network icon on the panel, then press the "Configure" button. I not experimented yet if wpa_supplicant will work without root permissions. I think not. And then we need to write some intermediate application, so called daemon, to communicate between user and wpa_supplicant.

i just tried to connect to slitaz.org in ipv6 only, it's not working.
i'm seeing that you added ipv6 for slitaz.org, but :
a) it would be great to ipv6ize it for the whole *slitaz.org domains, like google does (i can go on ggle, gmail, yt and more in ipv6 only without problems)
b) you added it with fe80::.... which are like fd..::.. , there are local or privates ips, like 192.168 or 169.254.. if i understood well, these kind of IPs are not reachable through the internet, must be something like 2a..:: or 20..::

Searching the Google about root-less connection to Wi-Fi networks I found that other distributives used ConsoleKit, or Netctl, or WiCD. I not used no one in the SliTaz, but I believe that these applications are too big for using in a such small distro like SliTaz.

i think it would be good to create an independent wifi manager tool, like ArandR for display management, which is very good on slitaz..

i firstly wish to thank you to the importance you give to this topic;
since the beginning, i'm trying to experience with slitaz the same as my old XP/98 OSes:
using my laptops as i should use them to improve praticity in life, etc..
thats why when we see something pretty useful on another OS, i always propose it on the forum as a suggestion or a feature to care in the next years;
as some things are currently in debate on the forum, i will complete them with a long report for saving slitaz from his low resources (as financial, time and human) by giving main ideas end-users are expecting to prefer slitaz reactivity as a good choice, as debian-like and RH-like are already.

Puppy linux has a few small utils that may be a good starting point for doing this. OLPC also had an app called frisbee that I heard was a small wifi util.

Your distribution may want to change its description on distrowatch. I have hardware that is i486 with 256mb ram and cant use anything newer than slitaz 3.
Three arguments:
At syslinux-4 much hardware that shipped with 256mb ram was no longer supported by syslinux. Thus at slitaz v4 you also dropped support for exactly what your description indicates you support.
I do not know of many old computers with 256mb of ram that are also uefi but development is now headed towards more hardware support, yes, but at same time you leave more and more unsupported.
I have been very active for two weeks on these forums in asking for support. I have solved more of my own problems than anyone else has reached out to do and while you think this may be good, its not. The problems I run in to are slitaz specific and no one offers help. I try to read your documentation but if this were a school I would grade you poorly as it looks like a very poor language translator was used to make pages. I have tried to help others on mailing list but I cant make use of your own documentation in effort to do so.
You may not realize this but your ranking on distrowatch has rarely been lower. This is due to poor support and poor documentation. And I have to say bad attitudes on part of developers also add to this. I see too many forum topics as closed. Autologin for example. I see developers slamming people looking for support indicating it does not work for them and developer closes topic. Your newest distribution ships with 8 year old software so I am at a loss for what your project goals are. You have good tools but poor direction and even worse support. Thank you for making the effort but after two weeks of requests going unanswered and the absolute hacks that cant be worked around within slitaz I am off to TinyCore. One can look at tinycore quickly and see that it still does what it says it does. Not the case here. I wonder how many users you loose due to these items?

Glibc should be at least 2.19 to run latest Iron and Firefox which are in your repos. Makes no sense that glibc is still at 2.13

I suggest latest GLIBC and later xorg-server in order to support newer hardware.
