I'm installing Slitaz on a Windows 10 tablet !

Hi guys!

I have a Windows 10 tablet (dell venue 10)

It has UEFI bios instead of the classic Legacy Bios. This bios allows to boot almost NO linux distro...

Anyway I resulted to install Debian 8 on it, now it's time for Slitaz

After installing Debian I also installed the rEFInd bootmanager that allows to boot any linux distro, anyway it just detect Debian and not Slitaz.

I followed the iscruction from the official rEFind website , I copyed the Slitaz iso (and/or some files in it) into an empty ext4 partion and into the EPS partition but slitaz is still not detected (also edited the configuration file...)

Please can anyone help me?

My experience could help a great step forward for the Slitaz project.

I  resulted to dualboot a full linux distro on a tablet, with working touchscreen

I guess your Dell Venue 10 has an Intel Atom Z3735F processor.

I am sorry to tell you, that SliTaz 5 with old 3.2 kernel is not able to run this device - you must wait on SliTaz 6 (http://cook.slitaz.org/next/)

at the moment only Linuxium is running nice on those devices....

but you managed to install the rEFInd bootmanager  - it would be cool, if you make a short howto to help other SliTAz users to install it on their PCs....

i'm sorry but uefi is not bios; uefi is a new kind of software to replace bios, could carry a legacy/CSM module to create like a virtual bios, but uefi itself is not bios.

and some distro are running with uefi without legacy/csm : fedora 22, some ubuntu, etc..

just not slitaz yet.

why it could not run slitaz?  Atom Z3735F seems to be a common intel atom cpu, compatible with x86 x64 plateforms, so why not?

it's booting debian, so...

I know that slitaz doesn't support uefi boot but once that I copied it's file on my hdd and I create a boot-entry for Slitaz in the boot manager, Slitaz should perfectly work

(This tablet it's extactly like a PC, with an x86 cpu, not arm ecc)

Why the kernel should not work?!

I'm going to make a full guide if I result to install it

I know that Legacy Bios and Uefi are different things. (my english is a bit confusing ahah)

Anyway the Refind bootmanager I installed on this uefi tablet can also boot distros that work in the "old" bios mode.

The only problem is that refind can't detect slitaz and so I need help from someone to edit the refind configuration file manually and make slitaz detectable.

Intel Bay Trail CPUs are suported from Kernel 3.11 - before there is no support for ethernet, bluetooth the cpu is hanging all the time, crashes

Iff you search the net you will find a lot of bugs and just from Kernel 4.11 it is working out of the box.

Thanks, yes I read your posts also in other threads, you adviced Gallium OS and Linuxium as good distros that support this hardware.

So I have to wait for Slitaz 6...( considering we still don't have a stable version for Slitaz 5)

Reached this point I want to try Slitaz even if I know I wont get a fantastic eperience, so...

---Can I take these "drivers" from a distro like Gallium and install them just after booting Slitaz?

(I can convert alien packages to tazpkg "format")

Or do I have to recompile the whole kernel?

When I edit the Grub2 configuration file to detect the Slitaz partition, I have an example code that I can't adapt for the partition scheme of my tablet, please can you help me replacing that lines that match the configuration of my partion? (slitaz iso doesn't contain any ".img" file)
