Hi,
I have successfully installed SliTaz on a very old laptop. However it boots in 1024x768 but the native resolution of the display is 800x600. When I change the resolution the screen darkens (like a dimmer) and doesn't change back even when I go back to 1024. Even if I save the settings and reboot the screen is still dimmed. Setting back to 1024 and rebooting does remove the dimmer. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks,

Try:
Open http://tazpanel:82 and login as root.
Hardware : Auto-install Xorg video driver
After installing the drivers... Reboot.
Menu Applications : Preferences : Monitor Settings
Make your choice of resolution, apply and save.

Hi,
Thanks for that. I'd already tried that but it tells me a driver cannot be found. The video card is a Neomagic and I believe there is a taz package for that so I will try to get the laptop online and download this driver.
It's a very odd issue, if I change the resolution it all works just is very dim, as if the brightness is right down. I've also found this happens if I try to access a terminal tty when switch back to X
