Re: Slitaz 4.0 does not recognize my serial mouse

q1) What do you mean by "old computer"? What trouble have you encountered when installing? More details please.

q2) What kind of mouse is connected to your pc (usb_port, serial_port or dedicated_mouse_port)?

q3) does your mouse work if you launch slitaz live cd?

Re: Slitaz 4.0 does not recognize my serial mouse

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log > xorg.log.txt

Attach xorg.log.txt to your reply.

Re: Slitaz 4.0 does not recognize my serial mouse

There is no keyboard shortcut to open terminal I'm aware of.

The log won't solve the problem, you have a serial mouse.

Another slitaz user with a serial mouse reported it will not work in Slitaz-4.0

He was somehow able to get a serial mouse to work in slitaz-3.0

If the computer has a PS2 mouse connection or USB port try a mouse with that connector.

Re: Slitaz 4.0 does not recognize my serial mouse

I had the same problem with serial mouse. The easiest way to make serial mouse to work with new Xorg install inputattach. You can convert deb package by "tazpkd convert" for example. Then write in /etc/init.d/local.sh "/usr/bin/inputattach --daemon --microsoft /dev/ttyS0" or you can use other options.

Ahh also you need to load module ser_mouse, you can do it by editing /etc/rcS.conf

Re: Slitaz 4.0 does not recognize my serial mouse

Q:How do I open the terminal without using the mouse?

A "start button"(button beside left "ctrl" with WIN logo) + "e", then type "xterm" or "sakura"

that should open a terminal console, assuming your keyboard works, and its a "modern" layout. i frankly dont remember 90s keyboard layouts

i know its way late reply, but like mojo says, no shorcut, this is just a "workaroud"

tongue

you can go from there on to do the stuff as stated above.

let us know how it goes
