Yes, only /home is saved.
If you want to save applications, you have to save the new rootfs:
[c]tazusb writefs lzma[/c]
If you've created your Live from a multi rootfs ISO (slitaz-4.0.iso or slitaz-rolling.iso) you'll have to modify your extlinux.conf file.

theres a factor here thats not working for me. If I change settings, select my working wifi, update and make changes...when I do a right click on the desk top theres an option 'SliTaz Live - TazUSB writefs' with compression options. If I select 'none' it proceeds to write 'rootfs.gz' which is ok ..but the problem is - on shut down and reboot... all my changes dont exsist and all is back to the default settings.

Looks like if your Live is still using the same rootfs.
What files are in /boot of the USB stick?

Ceel, discovered the file 'rootfs.gz' is not longer there on reboot.
Also when logged in as 'Tux' I can see the '/boot' file on the usb stick - but do not have rights to access it.
When I log on as Root - I can not find the usb stick to see the '/boot' file.
I am using 'slitaz-rolling-core64.iso' 4th Feb 2018.
However I am using it on an iMac.. so there may be issues with my particular set up.
what I will try next is to copy the 'rootfs.gz' file and take it and the usb stick to another PC with slitaz already running and copy the 'rootfs.gz' onto the stick.

Excellent deduction there, Ceel.
Discovered as Id used 'etcher' to install Slitaz onto the usb stick…it isn't writeable.
I'll try experimenting with other ways.
