https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/XL6EpGZaAlrW6apIugWtCQ/raw
for next :
WITHOUT screen=text because when i put it, then i cannot launch xorg, it freeze on black screen..
https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/FdvR82VyyW1YbxE8BgmX1w
for next bis :
here, with the slitaz next live usb : replace home=.. by screen=text;
firstly falling on shell, logging on root, enabling connection then tazx, selecting intel;
this is the xorg.log at this time :
https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/3gBAg4TNAkxM~g4UlBICEg/raw
then, with no modification, logging on tty5 as tux, then entering startx, xorg.log:
https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/Lfu7fQea3JpSu61aIwuYmQ/raw
just note :
every time on liveusb i removed now the home= and replaced it by screen=text
for each xorg log report to do, i just cp /var/log/xorg.* /media/usb
because it happen sometimes there are two or three files (dont ask me why, i just seen that)

next uses modsetting with correct resolution..... it does not use the intel driver
give me the name of the laptop
and give me the output of dmesg - in terminal - you can use next or rolling.....
dmesg > dmesg.txt and you find it in /home/tux
EDIT: and lspci -nn

the N2600 has no intel grafic card - it has a PowerVR SGX 545 grafic unit.
its closed source and does not work with intel driver...
it only works with modesetting - in rolling only with 800 x 600 and with next it will work with correct resolution......

hi kultex
ty for the reply
so is there a way to keep all settings/data from taz5 for upgrading to next?
is there a way eg to just rename old folders from slitaz 5 and install next on the same partition?
what would be the right idea to avoid terrible mess of migration/reinstallation?

first you have to check if all programs you need are working - next is in a very early state. I use next with my dell celeron CPU.
I use for intenet palemoon from i-juriy
http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/small-repo-of-my-tazpkgs-маленький-репо-моих-пакетов
and the best way - I do it like this - save the tux folder on usb disk and play it afterwars back - if you use home= then you can use it also in next.....

i think i will have to try another / partiton for it..

So summarizing, kernel incompatibility and issue with non-free drivers.
Could all of this have to do with this?

Tested on latest Slitaz 5.0

i dont know but if a new linux kernel is asked, it would be a deep pressure to release a new iso with it..
