How to "fork" SliTaz?

Interesting... As I am new to your distro, tend googling fix this change that than searching here on the forum yet. Accidentally stumbled on this project which seams not mentioned on this forum: https://sourceforge.net/projects/taz/

-"TAZ (or temporary autonomous zone) is a fork of slitaz linux."

-"Like SliTaz...a,b,c", but "it is more stripped-down, containing only the most essential components." and some other unlikes "xvesa, mdev, jailebraked package manager"

-Nice FAQ: https://sourceforge.net/p/taz/wiki/FAQ/ , how the job was made by tazlito etc. I especially liked "Can I support TAZ somehow? Glad you ask. Yes, you can. You can offer to help out in the coding work..."

Now to all this optimal stripped down, essential etc.

-There is an ISO hanging called "taz07b.iso" (they seem to be much faster in version numbering than you guys;) ) and couple of semi-finished pkgs

-all these stripped down comes at 'modest' 263 MB!? Oh my, should be hips of usefulness

-OK, xombrero, beaver and few other apps removed, Python, Geany, Palemoon, a Chat app, Clamav and few drivers installed. The rest - artwork, system, looks feels and obviously is pure SliTaz.

Is it how forks are done in opensource community, I would assume some other ways... sourceforge!?

Anyway, do you guys know of existence of this project. SliTaz seems not like *buntu, never heard of forks just flavors

Thank you for your post!

Yes, I personally met this project some years ago. And, I surprised!, it's still alive :-)

It's author mailed me some years ago and offered me money to develop something called "efficiency linux scripts" (you can find a link to that if you scroll the Sourceforge page down). But it is a really nightmare instead of scripts! %-P It is a big archives containing a mess of weird scripts, software source tarballs and other stuff. And really I can't do such job that I don't like a bit, even for money.

As far as I can recall the author of Linux efficiency scripts (or LES in short) don't like classical filesystem partitioning with /etc, /bin, /lib, /usr/sbin etc. If I remember correctly, GOBO Linux has another layout (VERY different) and our author like this and wants to implement it for SliTaz too.

Then this person was appeared here on forum.

Sorry I can't recall his login name or find something relevant on the forum using Google...

His ideas did not enjoy the support here.

What about a forks.

Knowing that someone needs your work, it's nice. But not in this case.

Anyway, good luck to the author :-B
