Recent update to 3.16.55 has caused a problem with wireless in that slitaz no longer boots into wireless automatically.....I need to manually make an internet connection which succeeds.
I'm running on an eeePC701 which is 32bit rather than 64 .....on another 64bit pc all works Ok
Any suggestions on a fix

No still not resolved, not much help here anymore. I take it you have a similar problem. I get wireless but it is a 4 step manual operation....runs OK afterwards.
If I stumble on a solution I'll let u know........don't hold your breath!

Hi,
Now that my problems with booting are solved, I'll try to find a solution for the Wi-Fi.
To resume:
I have a Asus Eee PC 900 (SliTaz rolling 32-bits).
Network card: Qualcomm Atheros AR242x
When I lauch SliTaz, I have no Wi-Fi connection. It tries to connect during the start of the PC, but it fails.
When SliTaz is started, I have to start the Wi-Fi manually, and it is OK.
I have no solution, but maybe:
- install a package?
- change a "driver" (I don't know if it exists with GNU/Linux or only with MS-Windows)?
- modify /etc/network.conf?
- something was deleted (not supported anymore) in a new kernel?
If someone can help me (and plumtreed!)…

Open terminal and then
lsmod
and view if is loaded the kernel modules "ath5k"
if yes the next step is verify on /etc/network.conf if the row
“# Enable/disable wireless connection at boot time.” is WIFI="yes"

Good an bad news:
1/Today, I made a lot of things on my SliTaz (new packages, modify config), and now Wi-Fi is OK at the boot.
2/But I don't remember all the changes I made. So, not possible to tell you how I fix the problem.
I look that again tomorrow.

I made a new installation: after the installation and the reboot, the problem with the Wi-Fi is still there.
But I found the solution (it's very easy):
1/Start SliTaz. The Wi-Fi connection is NOK after the start.
Go to Preferences/Wi-Fi configuration ==> choose a network and start the Wi-Fi. You're now connected on the Wi-Fi.
2/Maybe this step 2 is not necessary.
Applications ==> Preferences ==> Package Manager :
Click on "Packages/Recharge list" and after that on "Packages/Check updates".
I had no updates because it's a new installation with the new weekly .iso.
3/In Applications ==> Preferences ==> Package Manager :
You look the menus :
-Boot (Summary/Boot loader/Boot logs/System logs…)
-Hardware (Summary-Kernel modules-Detect PCI/USB…)
==> you click on Boot/Summary ==> you look ==> you click on Boot/Boot loader ==> you look ==> and you repeat with all options from Boot and Hardware.
You change nothing, just look at these menus. And on my Eee PC, Wi-Fi is OK when I reboot.
I can not explain why.
Maybe when you go to Hardware/Detect PCI/USB, it "repairs" something.
You tell me if it is OK for you?

I don't use standard version of slitaz, but I want write this impression:
Seem on this version of rolling are very unstable.
Example: The icon of keymap on lxpanel, on my case (autologin) notify “US” but are set to “IT” and work well as IT.
After logout xsessions and relogin the keymap icon change to “IT”...
the mistery of keymaster...

That's a strange one, alternating keymaster......the very first thing I do on a new install is remove the keymaster for no other reason than I think the letters are too big, unpleasant and out of place.....and my keyboard is always on 'US' and never changes!
I think the developers are concentrating on 64bit and sorting out those bugs often associated more with 32bit,.......I think, too, that 32 bit will be dropped before long, everybody else is dropping it.
Thanks to you and R8 I have a recent version installed that should give me something to play with on my old 32bit eeepc......
