youtube

I need some videos from youtube but I can't look at them in SliTaz:

[c]img[/c]

http://deffe.com/images/2018/04/07/ytube001.jpg

as you can see on above screen shot the connection did well happen, pictures  can be look as preview, but it is the video that not start (no adequate player, no adequate command?)

Note:

I am in a great newinstallation of SliTaz LXQT. the installation of flash with get-flash-plugin didn't start

error message try to install with get-flash-plugin:

Connecting to fpdownload.macromedia.com (95.100.202.44:80)

wget: server returned error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

so I did copy the (yet good working) existant libflashplayer.so from older installation into the same places as SliTaz installs.

but it seems to miss somewath (dependencie?)!

what is check (for ex. dependencies...)?

Re: youtube

',, but I can't look at them in SliTaz'

which browser are you using to look at them.?

Slitaz has a command line youtube downloader that worked for me yesterday.

its called 'youtube-dl'

Once you find the video you want - copy the address, open up a terminal and type:

youtube-dl

and paste the address.

Downloads as a mp4 file.

Re: youtube

hello people

for online streaming / video content / multimedia plugins, i really advice you to use only chrome (as an alternative to midori, tazweb and firefox, four brow' on the pc) to have a safety-compliant browsing experience.

i'm running chrome (download links are on slitaz dot free dot fr), tazpkgconverted deb from google/apt one. it's running fine, never had problem with, if you still have it's probably your video drivers or something....

running chrome on slitaz 5, YT working very well, such as others multimedia/online contents, i dont remember having browsing problems... Luck'! smile

Re: youtube

ok, after some testing:

on PuppyLinux (live usb and saved sessions) it was easy, just clicked "get chromium" and installation was effortless and I can use youtube easily and reasonably fast. can't access gmail  though.

will it be so easy on SliTaz with getting chromium?

on antix installed on ssd (I'm just testing linuxes for old system) using youtube is PITA.

Hello Rantanplan and JustCurious.

What I'm going to write next are not criticisms, but some of the sad truths and current reality.

As much as the thread is 4 years old, the Oui only received TWO replies and unfortunately, the issues from 4 years ago are current on SliTaz.

My hope is that SliTaz will be updated and can be made available in an updated and stable version of the work that is in progress on the topics https://forum.slitaz.org/topic/slitaz-future and https://forum.slitaz.org/topic/slitaz-development-strategy-direction through the beneficial initiatives of Filou and Shann.

The web browsers available for SliTaz are either too old or cannot be updated because the libraries are too old.

The latest ISO with the release date is the 24th July 2022 of the SliTaz 5.0 Rolling (weekly) edition, I doubt the old issues are resolved in this newer ISO.

I've tested a lot, received a lot of help and teachings here and I'll always be very grateful to all these people, but GNU/Linux can't be run this way, the end user shouldn't be an "eternal tester". The end user needs to receive a stable ISO and have another version of the test ISO that should be used by people with technical knowledge to help develop and improve the new stable version of the operating system.

And that's why I hope that Filou's and Shann's initiatives were not in vain and that they are a promising future for SliTaz, because if it continues as it is, SliTaz could increase DistroWatch's list of discontinued distributions. or abandoned https://distrowatch.com/search.php?ostype=All&category=All&origin=All&basedon=All&notbasedon=None&desktop=All&architecture=All&package=All&rolling=All&isosize=All&netinstall=All&language=All&defaultinit=All&status=Discontinued#simple.

JustCurious, in antiX Linux you can watch videos with the Firefox web browser, or with SM-Tube, or with the command in the terminal:

$ celluloid https://www.youtube.com/?????

or

$ mpv https://www.youtube.com/?????

press the Enter key, don't forget to leave a space between the name of the multimedia player program and the YouTube URL.

All&category=All&origin=All&basedon=All&notbasedon=None&desktop=All&architecture=All&package=All&rolling=All&isosize=All&netinstall=All&language=All&defaultinit=All&status=Discontinued#simple.

$ celluloid https://www.youtube.com/?????

ou

$ mpv https://www.youtube.com/?????

Re: youtube

Hi marcelocripe,

Thanks.

I wish a long life to SliTaz.

And, me too, I receive many, here.

The slitaz team gives a lot of its time and knowledge.

They listen the final user and try to satisfy them, and often they success.

Friendly.
