SOLVED!! firefox-official-xx - audio working with pulseaudio

Package firefox-official-xx (62.0.3) sound was not working. Requires pulseaudio.

I installed pulseaudio and pavucontrol and following the instructions of @mojo

http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/issue-with-pulseaudio#post-37164

http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/firefox-520-audio-requires-pulseaudio#post-44307

Now pulseaudio works.

Now firefox-official-xx updated to version 63.0.1 and audio working Ok!

We should have a Slitaz version with all those things already included and fixed once for all.

Re: SOLVED!! firefox-official-xx - audio working with pulseaudio

Hey folks - new user here.

(I've sparingly used SliTaz several times, off & on, over the past few years.)

I've created a bug report, below... IMHO perhaps one approach could be:

http://bugs.slitaz.org/bugs.cgi?id=212

Does this all make sense?

Clear as mud? ;p

thanks for everyone who's been supportive of troubleshooting, fixing, reporting, documenting and publicizing this!

Re: SOLVED!! firefox-official-xx - audio working with pulseaudio

libcanberra-gtk.so.0 is missing for pavucontrol --> needs  libcanberra-gtk2 package,

pavucontrol (pulse audio colume control) .. why the hell this crap has to connect to something ?

firefox auto-updated to 63.0.3  but still no sound

@jwmh. Thx, nice idea

Re: SOLVED!! firefox-official-xx - audio working with pulseaudio

@moulefrite pavucontrol is not strictly necessary for sound to work in Firefox. You only need pulseaudio and replace the complete configuration with the content described in the post

I inform that with this method the sound works, but after a few minutes there is a severe distortion in the audio.

Transient solution close firefox and restart sad

Re: SOLVED!! firefox-official-xx - audio working with pulseaudio

Two solutions for missing sound:

1) apulse

Under some conditions it works out of the box. But often you have

to modify firefox (there are several contributions, how to do) and

   add lines like APULSE_PLAYBACK_DEVICE...

2) pulseaudio

I compiled pulseaudio 4.0 with alsa-developer-files. Then edit the

   .../pulse/default.pa:

   uncomment the lines

   #load-module module-alsa-sink

   #load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:1,0

   comment the lines .fail

   pulseaudio -D
