Hi all,
I recently noticed a weird thing.
[*]SliTaz Rolling 32 running on an acer Aspire with 4GB RAM (2x2GB probably) sees only 2GB RAM:
[attachment=47796,2839]
[*]SliTaz Rolling 64 running on the same computer sees the entire RAM:
[attachment=47796,2840]
[*]SliTaz 32 running on a hp Pavilion 3GB (2x512MB + 2x1GB) does not have a problem to access all the memory:

Does someone have an explanation?
And do other members find the same thing on their computer?

All my RAM is in place :-)

Hi Ceel,
i check kernel config of 3.16.55 32bits (HIGHMEM4G defined), PAE is enabled to see 4Go of memory.
With Rolling64 you run with 64 bits kernel, he can see all memory >=4Go.
On your HP laptop you have 3Go of memory (<4Go of limit 32bits address space).
I doesn't understood why with HIGMEM4G defined, 32bits kernel doesn't see 4Go on your Acer laptop, maybe a hardware specif
.

Hey Aleksej, joker!
I can see you are using Rolling 64.
Hi shann,
maybe a hardware specif
.
I'm really afraid of this.
The hardware of this PC is really capricious (never again I'll buy an acer
)

Hi shann,
To be sure that hardware, you can try livecd of 32 bits other distribution to confirm that see only 2Go of 4Go
Excellent idea!
I'm going to search for a distro that still have a 32bit ISO without PAE not activated, like in SliTaz. Maybe Porteus or Alpine Linux. Or simply Next.
