HOT TIP: drivers you need for WiFi on Samsung N145 Netbook, Dell Lattitude D630

Initially, I had difficulties in connecting to WiFi, following installation of Slitaz5. Looking through the Slitaz forum posts, the problem of WiFi drivers seems to come up quite often. Furthermore, on the web, I couldn't find any information online to indicate which firmware-iwlwifi drivers are needed for different laptops.

The way I got round it was to install all the iwlwifi drivers under "My Packages" in the TazPanel, to ensure the one I needed was included. Each time I logged off I would then delete one of the packages, and by a process of elimination with each reboot, I discovered which driver was needed. To save someone the bother of doing this I've given the firmware-iwlwifi packages needed for the following two laptops, just in case this information is useful for someone:

Samsung NP-N145 Plus (Intel Atom N455 CPU@1.66GHz): firmware-iwlwifi-100

Dell Latitude D630 (Intel T7100@1.8GHz): firmware-iwlwifi-3945 (legacy)

PS. In future, I will post the iwlwifi drivers on this forum for any other laptops I try with Slitaz5

Hi mikey777,

In addition to the computer model, it could be interesting to know what wireless interface it uses.

To know it, install pciutils

[c]# tazpkg -gi pciutils[/c]

then run the command

[c]# lspci -nn | grep -i wireless[/c]

It should return something like this:

[c]02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Qualcom Atheros QCA9665 / AR9565 Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0036] (rev 01)[/c]
