Live USB persistence

hello,

I have read the howtos about how to make Slitaz live USB persistence possible.

I was wondering if it has been considered by the developers, and if it would be possible, to implement in Slitaz a GUI user-friendly way to have live persistence such as that in Antix?

Good idea. But since almost everybody here seems to install SliTaz on their HDD, there is not much demand for such a feature. But it is no problem to put calls to a backup/restore script in /etc/init.d/rc.shutdown and in /etc/init.d/local.sh (or rcS) and then to re-master the ISO with Tazlito.

I have Slitaz installed too, but, since it is the smallest and more efficient live system around, I'd like to use it in a school project meant to allow Mac and Wndows users access to Linux specific applications.

However, persistence is a must, and the intended users are not computer savy, therefore the script should work in a GUI environment.

Also, the system should be installed only on a part of the USB drive, leaving most of it writable.

Antix/MX seem to be split in two parts, the system and the live rootfs part.

Dear forum users

I would like to know how to make the live persistant too, been trying to find the latest recipe and make it work. I would install if it wasnt for the harddisk on the old mini netbook being ridiculously small.

I thought in slitaz, live persistant was already an option...though Ive never tried it.

" SliTaz with xorg-server and persistent /home requires a linux filesystem (ext2,ext3) for regular users to login to an X-session."

this would permit files in your /home to be saved.

if youre wanting to install and retain changes - have a look at wot Ceel states at:

which is having the right format.

(I must look into this and actually try it...)
