Slitaz v4 AMD geode hardware Xorg will not show gui and shows no errors

Hi All,

Using both AMD Geode LX800 and GX series hardware I cant get a gui.

Steps taken. Spin iso in vm using tazlito.

I use two drivers with geode. vesa and geode. Caveats with geode are that I cant switch v, and cant kill x as the driver does not unload cleanly. so I try with vesa and next geode to see differenes.

If I use geode I see that /lib/drm/swrast_dri.so is needed. Just rebuilt iso including mesa-dri and listed depends in receipt file. After testing is see things I have not seen.....

Start hardware on text login. from root prompt I configure X with X -configure and then nano in to the /root/xorg.conf.new and change it over to a conf that I know works on slitaz-v3. Again I take 4 steps here before I report. First on GX hardware I start with vesa driver and modes specified that worked on v3. I get blank screen and after 5 minutes I swith vt’s and look at /var/log/Xog.0.conf and grep for EE. Nothing. The closest I get is an II about mit-screensavers.

Try again on geode divers but same visible results but I cant get out of X being blank and I cant switch vt’s so I cant share logs. Unless I can use SSH?

I switch VT and look at top and all looks normal. I have 433mhz and not much more than 10 percent is used with x hanging on VT7. I kill the pid that x was running on and no ee or ii output is there in xorg log.. I have read forum article on how things like x and slim relate on boot but I am baffled on how to diagnose this with no EE or meaningful II in xorg. I thought I had it with mesa-dri. I did not install mesa due to the mesa-dri package providing /lib/dri/swrast_dri.so. ..... Mesa was not listed in dependencies of mesa-dri but I wonder if it really is needed? I’m using hardware cursor in geode driver. Other option is for a SWcursor but am not 100% if it would relate to this..... If anyone has suggestions please do send. Getting logs from the unit is not easy but possible. Let me know

Edit, Original reports on cpu usage wrong... after settling I see, with X running and looking at top through a different VT,  1 -1.3% cpu usage. Let me start to export logs through usb. I know. Give me a bit

Re: Slitaz v4 AMD geode hardware Xorg will not show gui and shows no errors

xorg.0.log while x was running captured from tty3

When building kernel I seemed to have missed the /drivers/input/misc/atlas_btns.ko

or the needed deps for...

This will result in some unmapped acpi references in the logs. I was running vesa driver in xorg.conf

If I try with the geode driver and bring in /lib//dri_swrast.so (it loads) I wont be able to switch VT’s as all others are white and wont show me a prompt.

Cant CTL+ALT+BCKSPC to exit (geode driver wont unload cleanly even if I could so I have to post with vesa driver. I run webdt.org and can say across 5 different distributions across 10 years vesa driver has always worked on every distro util now.

Any pointers or tips would be very appreciated!
