HDMI Hitachi TV Font to big

Hi.

I don't want to start a war between distros, I want to understand how they work and how to fix and chose the best one maybe both.

I have a TV Toshiba 32", it has HDMI input, SVIDEO, etc.

We want to setup a program to display info in the browser, we want to use tinyboxes like neoware, this boxes have a internal video driver VGA, the TV doesn't have any VGA input, them we purchase a VGA2HDMI to have a better resolution.

It didn't work.

We try puppy and slitaz.

Latter we decide to get a video card with HDMI output, we found Radeon 5450 PCI(No pci-e) the old one this machine doesn't have PCI-e.

We setup again puppy/slitaz, puppy finally works, after changing aspect ratio, is using openchrome after some xorg changes work.

The problem I found with slitaz 3.0 was that it boots and start the X system, but once u try to open anything the font size increase a lot, is not possible to work, like font size 70, the desktop looks good but anything u open the font size increase a lot.

Some could give me a north what I can do to fix this?

Video card PCI

Radeon 5450

HDMI output.

I think is using vesa driver.

I try to search drivers for this card but ati won't give any PCI drivers for linux, only PCI-e, if exist and some knows where I can get them let me know I will appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Re: HDMI Hitachi TV Font to big

About this, I continue working on this.

Testing puppy linux different versions works, Xorg use openchrome went I connect the TV to my HDMI.

I read xorg.conf and see that is cabable to detect my TV Hor/Ver settings(I remember the old days went we build the X setup by hand hahahahaha).

Now slitaz use vesa driver, I can see the screen on my TV, but the font size is to big.

I run tazx and try to change the driver to test but how can I restart the xorg server?

I have try to add the Hor/Ver settings like puppy but don't know how to restart the X server.

Other thing, I haven't been able to go to my console, went I press the shutdown button we have 3 options:

exit X server.

reboot

halt system.

Exit X server won't work, I just see the underscore in my monitor and is all, I try Alt+F1..F12 and nothing, I have to press the reset button in my machine.

Slitaz is capable to detect my PCI Radeon Ati card 5450 but it say 5430 not a issue, he can see the chip.

Any tip will be appreciated, thanks!!!

Re: HDMI Hitachi TV Font to big

Update:

Slitaz 4 is able to detetc my card:

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Manhattan [Mobility Radeon HD 5430 Series]

But I have try with tazx: ati, radeonhd, none of them work, I still using the VESA drive.

I'm trying to understand this way to setup xorg, before we use 1 file, now slitaz separate in different modules, If wanted to change the screen resolutions, monitor settings like hor/vert , I can't on those files?

What happend if I try to use my own xorg.conf? is possible?

Thanks!!!

Re: HDMI Hitachi TV Font to big

I choose tazx => ati for my R5450

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-Device.conf Driver "radeon" replaces Driver "vesa"

The settings in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ override settings in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Re: HDMI Hitachi TV Font to big

Problem is - if the vesa driver is present, it will default back to it on next reboot. So remove all the xorg drivers you don't need to force xorg to use the ones you want

Re: HDMI Hitachi TV Font to big

Guys love u.

U have been a great help for me, the issue was the VESA driver, after I remove the driver, install ATI as u say and boom, I put my TV on 16:9 Auto...

Xorg running at maximum resolution 1920x1080, I just need to do some tuning a little vibration on the top of the screen, I will try different resolutions, we want to show some dynamic reports on screen, charts, etc.

Send u hag from Tijuana,Mexico!!!
