Hello all
I've had ten t5540 thin client stations thrust upon me and asked if I could make them useful - seems like the perfect job for Slitaz!

It appears to be going through the boot process fine, but after a message that says [c]Welcome to your box[/c] all I have is a flashing cursor that won't accept any input.
The video chip is a [c]Via Chrome9 HC3[/c] so is this an openchrome issue?
Anything I can do to troubleshoot the issue a little more?

A small additional update - TinyCoreLinux (CorePlus) 11.1 was able to load successfully, so is there perhaps just something Slitaz is missing that tcl is preloaded with?

Hi Ceel, thanks I hadn't seen that post in the forum archive!
I've now attempted to use both slitaz-rolling-core (as suggested by Zainka http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/installing-slitaz-on-thin-client-t5545#post-27761) and slitaz-rolling, using first [c]vga=791[/c] as a boot option, as well [c]790[/c] and [c]787[/c], but no luck. (791 is 64bit colour, the video chip is 32bit)
I don't know if this boot option is still relevant though, as that post was 6 years ago and whenever I use it, I receive the following prompt:
[c]Undefined video mode number: 316[/c]
I've subsequently tried the following, which both seem to work:
[c]35E 1920x1440x32 VESA (the apparent max resolution for this chip)
318 1024x768x32 VESA[/c]
Boot resumes at this point. From here on in the boot continues until the final few lines:
[c]Setting up kernel security rules... [Done]
WARNING: IPtables are disabled
Starting inetd daemon: inetd...
Starting ntpd daemon: ntpd...[/c]
After inetd and ntpd start, it defaults back to 640x480 resolution and a flashing, unresponsive cursor. So is this perhaps a networking issue of some kind?

In the end I managed to get slitaz booted with the most recent version of rolling-core and installing a tazpkg for a previous version of openchrome (http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/openchrome-video-driver#post-39125)
I added [c]screen=text[/c] to the boot options for core to get to the terminal, downloaded and installed openchrome using the instructions above, executed [c]tazx[/c] and reconfigured xorg setting openchrome as the driver. From there I started slim and got into slitaz without issue.
Next up I'm trying to install to the hdd, which is proving equally troublesome. I've installed slitaz-rolling-core apparently successfully using the slitaz installer, but when booting from the hdd I just get [c]j[/c] and a flashing cursor... any thoughts on that?

I've realised when looking at the 128mb flash memory in question after an installation that it is completely full, not a byte spare.
The Slitaz installer finishes without any errors and suggests that all is well, but is it the case that even Slitaz is too big for the drive in question? Is there a way to do an install that takes up less than 128mb of space?

Depending of what you want to do, may be you can install the GTKonly flavor
or SliTaz 3.0

I'm going to mark this as solved, as although I cannot install, the machine definitely can run Slitaz using the above guidance.
