Re: FireFox

It may be that you have to update the glibc-library. I just had the same problem. When I tried to start the program via the command line „/usr/bin/firefox-official" I saw the corresponding error message.

2.14

tux@slitaz:~$ /usr/bin/firefox-official: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.17' not found (required by /usr/bin/firefox-official)

Hmmh, no chance: I just did an update to the newest packages but I get then this:

tux@slitaz:~/Desktop$ tazpkg -l | grep libc

glibc-base                         2.14.1            Basissystem

libcanberra                        0.30              Entwicklung

libcap                             2.33              Systemwerkzeuge

libcddb                            1.3.2             Multimedia

libcomerr                          1.43.9            Basissystem

libcomerr3                         1.18              Sicherheit

libcrypto                          1.0.2u            Sicherheit

libcurl                            7.72.0            Netzwerk

So it is 2.14 and not >2.17 as required.

Re: FireFox

I got curious and tried it on a laptop. Packages first updated. Then I started firefox 77, no problem. Is the secret hidden in the list of installed packages? I have here glibc 2.14.

Hmmh, I leave it for the adults in the room.

   --------------------------

Joy was too early. Now it does not start any longer with the error message:

/usr/bin/firefox-official: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.17' not found (required by /usr/bin/firefox-official)

   ----------------------------------------

Then I re-installed it with tazpanel and now it runs again.

Re: FireFox

I'll throw it out there: probable auto-update of firefox.

Compare just installed by slitaz the values of BuildID[sha1]=xxx in firefox-bin with the "file" command, then repeat when it stops working. You will see that they are different....

from the releases the original values of sha1 are available

http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

here is a method to force update blocking (to be translated)

Re: FireFox

firefox 77 is the last 32-bit version and therefore must not be updated!

Re: FireFox

Sorry, what I intended to say was

firefox 77.0 is the last 32-bit version that works with

glibc-2.14.1 in SliTaz
