Unable to run live system

Hi all,

I got hand of an old fan less system (Pentium Silver with i915 chipset) which I want to use as a Media PC.

It works fine with Win10, but I failed so far to install Linux on it. I can't even get a live system to run.

I tried the ususal supects, but alll hang in the boot process. I asked on stackexchange

https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/778428/weird-cant-install-linux-on-an-itx-machine

and a guy pointed out that there might be some problems with the onboard graphics.

Ok, then a lean text only unix should work to have a starting point. I built a stick with slitaz.

No chance. Even that hangs in the boot process, see screen "shot" under https://bruehl.no-ip.biz/teilen/slitaz.jpg

Any hint on how to debug this? Or what to try next? I'm out of ideas.

Thanks and regards

Re: Unable to run live system

Hi,

eudev-3.2.4 ?? eudev is 3.2.11 in SliTaz

What ISO did you use to create your stick? Maybe RC3? If yes, try the Rolling ISO

Re: Unable to run live system

I'm not sure anymore, I have 4 slitaz isos in my Download folder.:-)

It's a UEFI machine, so I carved the stick by hand according to a guide from here

https://doc.slitaz.org/en:guides:uefi-live

So it must be the slitaz-next-170920.iso

I figured from the forum that a rolling core should do. I'll try and report. Thanks!

Re: Unable to run live system

SliTaz Next is unstable and discontinued, better to use Rolling or you can also have a try at SliTaz Current.

Re: Unable to run live system

Thanks for the info and sorry for the delay I was pretty busy.

I tried the slitaz-rolling-5-in-1.iso and Kudos to all the contributors, it booted on the box into a live console system.

I now have to fiddle around with starting X, in case I need help, I'll start a new topic.

Thanks again. First distro of ten tried that boots on the system.
