Liveusb with ext an fat partitions

Hello, congrats for the new 4.0 release to developers.

I'm trying to install Slitaz in a pendrive with 2 partitions, one for slitaz and other for share files with window$. I used Gparted and made first partion ext3 then created a second partirion fat32 but slitaz didn't boot.

Then used Gparted to change the order first partition FAT then EXT but never ended to format. Th pendrive get useless, Gparted don't recongnize it, neither fdisk. Making a dmesg the pendrive get recognized and after extracting it dmesg shows an I/O error. Is it possible Gparted ruined my pendrive (a new 4Gb Kingston)?

what is the correct way to set up a FAT partition to share files?

I don't know if there is a way to recover the pendrive under linux? like a low level format tool..or do I have to use window$ to do that!

Note, that windows™ can recognize only first partition on USB Flash, so you should format first partition as VFAT (fat32), and the second — as linux native fs (ext3 etc.)

How I was prepared my USB Flash? I opened GPartEd, deleted all partitions on my flash, and created new (see screenshot). How to repair your flash? I recommend you great Russian source: FlashBoot.ru. Good luck to you!

With an incomplete operation I once corrupted a drive's partition table.  gPartEd didn't see it any more, and wanted to reformat the entire drive.  I used the recovery tool TestDisk in Hiren's or PartEd-Magic to restore the partition table.

It works from Windows, DOS or Linux.

There's also http://www.prime-expert.com/flashboot/ but I've never used it for recovery.

Well... I corrupted a 8 GB flash disk too... I don't remember the complete command line, it depends on problem...

But the solution is to use the 'dd' command (must search in st. Google for the parameters) to rearrange the partition...

Hi Somewhat Reticent, thanks for the info. Now suddenly my pen-drive was recognized an stopped blinking forever. I made 2 partitions as Aleksej showed. Maybe the partition table was corrupted and magically restored?
