Broadcom wireless broken after upgrade with b43-phy0 ERROR [SOLVED]

After I did a 'tazpkg recharge && upgrade', my broadcom-wl wireless stopped working. dmesg throws following error:

May 9 13:39:19 (none) user.err kernel: b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43/ucode5.fw" not found

May 9 13:39:19 (none) user.err kernel: b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43-open/ucode5.fw" not found

May 9 13:39:19 (none) user.err kernel: b43-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43#devicefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefull read all instructions on this website.

I checked out the website. I will try to reinstall b43-fwcutter.

Re: Broadcom wireless broken after upgrade with b43-phy0 ERROR [SOLVED]

Ok, whatever. I went to subox wifibox, and install b43-firmware and rebooted. And it started working, although with some changes. Wireless interface now shows up as 'wlan0', unlike before where it was always 'eth1'. And I guess we don't do 'broadcom-wl' no more? It seems to be using b43 now, with b43legacy-firmware loaded.

I have to tell you though, it does seem to working a lot better than the last couple of years that I've been using the wl driver. The signal indicator, which never got beyond 50% using the wl driver, now shows 100% with the b43 driver. It's also picking up half a dozen networks in the neighborhood which it never detected before.

Nice.
