Slitaz Cooking 20110329, slitaz home=usb problem. [Help]

Hello first of all great piece of work big_smile

Now then to what i want to ask about:

Im running Slitaz from usb with the option in syslinux.cfg

append initrd=/boot/rootfs.gz rw root=/dev/null vga=normal slitaz home=usb

Now it starts up correct and i can login as root

however when trying to add a new user it seems to have problem with rights

when creating user folder on usb. since when trying to login as the new user

it says: Failed to execute login command and then returns to login screen.

However when i exidently had my C:\ drive online when i booted from Slitaz, and then tried to add user it worked, but.... it created user home directory on C:\

So i gather that there is some problem with write rights when trying to create files / folders on USB?

Sincerally

Hi Martin,

Do not install any part of slitaz including /home on a windows filesystem:ntfs,fat16,fat32.

Do not use home=usb use home=/dev/sdXX

Find /dev/sdXX name of drive and partition with fdisk -l or GParted and verify filesystem is ext2,ext3,or ext4.

Re: Slitaz Cooking 20110329, slitaz home=usb problem. [Help]

Hey mojo and thank you for the information smile

One question, im rethinking how i want to do:

Remove default user tux, add new user to live usb

I started usb without the option home=xxxxx

did my modifications and tazusb writefs, then copied it over to usb/boot/rootfs.gz

however after restart i still unable to execute login command for my new user

and when i logged in to root account i noticed my new user was gone.

so i did it all over again, and now user is there but still i cant login as the new user

get the error stated above, any clue about why i get this error message?

Sincerally
