accidentally installed on hard drive.

I have been running Linux mint 10 on an old laptop of mine for a while, but I wanted to give Slitaz a try. I created a live CDand when it loaded I used the utility to create a live USB.  However, I made a wrong selection and it installed on my hard drive. Now it automatically starts slitaz when I turn on the laptop.

Is there a way that I can remove slitaz from the hard drive so that I can use my old distro again?

It depends. If you only did a install without formatting and without touching your home directory/partition, then all you really need to do is install Mint 10 over the SliTaz copy and you'll have Mint again.

However, if you did format over your old copy, then things become tricky and you'll need a tool like testdisk to recover the old partition (if possible).

It didn't format the disk since I can still access all my files. I still have my Mint 10 live CD. If reinstall mint, will I lose all of my programs and settings?

You will probably lose the programs you installed in Mint, but the majority of your settings should still be save within your home directory/partition and will be restored if you install the program again.
